It's About Birds

Hi everyone. Another week is wrapping up. I hope everyone had a nice one. At my house it was wet for a good part of the week, including today. Today I'm linking up to Gillena's Friday Lunch Break and to Nicole's Friday Face Off.

Mama and Papa bluebird have been busy feeding their babies or baby. I don't know exactly the number of young in the bird house as I haven't seen any signs of them yet. But the parents keep going back and forth with food.  And they seem like they can only get part way into the house.

It's very exciting since a couple of years ago I only  had an occasional bluebird in my yard.

The Baltimore Orioles has been around a lot too. More than I ever remember seeing any. And now Mr. Oriole has a Mrs. who I've glanced at too. Here's a photo of Mr.  as I haven't gotten any photos of his Mrs.

If you're wondering about the blob just below the oriole's breast, I took this photo with my phone through the glass sliding door, and I have some leaf window stickers on the door so the birds don't fly into it.

The other day I had a flicker out there too. And excuse my disastrous looking lawn. But at least there are no surprise dog poops in the photo. ๐Ÿ˜

I've also seen an occasional yellow warbler and a yellow rumped warbler (myrtle form),  but I've never managed to get a photo of them either. And I  saw my first hummingbird of the season yesterday. I've been waiting for them. ๐Ÿ‘ But no photo of any hummingbirds yet either.

The other day 3 of my friends and I got together at one of those friend's homes. We finally watched the film we tried to stream  back in early April. In April you couldn't stream it; it was only available in theaters. Now it's available on Amazon (and maybe elsewhere, I'm not sure), and the 4 of us split the cost to see it. We each brought snacks to share, and it made a nice afternoon that was much cheaper than the theater too.

It was a pretty good film. The penguin was definitely the star. The Penguin Lessons was set in the 1970's in Argentina. It also was a good story about life under the military junta and how people, usually young people, went missing if they spoke out about the government. The film mentioned there could be up to 30,000 missing.  At that time many mothers of the missing banded together to form the mother's march, which according to the film and what I saw on the internet, still happens every Thursday even now because it's still not known what happened to those people.

That's all for me today.  I hope every one has a great Friday and start to your weekend also.

You certainly have a lot of birds in your yard. I hear baby chicks that have a nest roosted under the eaves on my back porch. I don't see any birds, so have no idea what they are. They did this last year, too and I still don't know where the nest is or what avian species it is.

Love your bird house.

Congratulations on your breeding Eastern Bluebirds. That is a very special treat. Perhaps the Baltimore Orioles will decide tha your place looks like home too. Be sure to keep us posted. All the best - David

As I said before, your yard is a paradise for the birds. Blue birds are my favourite. Mr. Baltimore Orioles looks pretty handsome too.

Thanks for the intro to bird life in your yard, Erika. We never had bluebirds or orioles at our VA or NJ homes๐Ÿ˜•. Also thanks for the movie info. When I read the title I was intrigued, but after reading about the plot, less so. It will not be on my immediate viewing list.

Hi Erika, yes I was surprised to see the comment from Stevenson as it has been such a long time. I did watch a few of his recent travel videos and hope he does blog again. I've added a link back on my sidebar to remind myself to check often. I've remove a link when something unfortunate has happened or he/she the blogger isn't posting. Sometimes, no reason is ever given other than when a death is posted by another family member, sadly.

Wonderful to see the birds. I'll have to check out the Penguin Lessons. Sounds a bit like history is repeating itself. Another wet and cold day. Stay warm and dry. The weekend or at least Sunday is supposed to be the start of warmer, sunnier weather.

To birds and blobs! I once had a bird flying into mine, lucky, after a coupe of mintes it took off again.
Must´ve been a young bird, I have a cacti- and a butterfly-sticker on it!
I think we don´t have hummingbirds here.
Interesting movie.
Who knows how many disappeared in Russia for speaking out... And did I get sick seeing Putin celebrating himself and spreading lies on Ukraine...
Other - hope it was a great day, I finished two tests, yippeee, hugs! (hope I passed them, too)

Oh it is so cool that the birds actually use the bird house! We have Orioles here but I haven't seen any. Lots of flickers and wood peckers. I love your photos and thank you for sharing with FFO. Have a nice weekend.

I don't think that film ever came to my town but I had heard about it and hoped to see. Well, maybe! I just love the array of birds you have -- and bright colorful ones, too. That's fun. Hope you get to see the fledging.

How fun to have all the birds visiting your yard! In Maine, we used to have a cardinal who frequented a tree outside our bedroom window. He seemed to like the berries that were on it. And he thought 4 am was the perfect time to start his day with some loud singing and the occasional angry squawk when another bird tried to share the tree!

I love your yard so full of birds, Erika, and those Eastern Bluebirds are wonderful! Our Western Bluebirds unfortunately don't come often to my yard, but the Hooded Orioles do and many many other birds, so I'm not complaining. Even while I write this, I hear a lot of birds (I'm sitting outside with my labtop). I hope you will enjoy many more birds in your yard. Have a lovely weekend, hugs - Carola

Baby bird season is so short and intense: everyone is watching nests now. And it will be over for another year.

How wonderful to have birds in your garden. And you also know what they are called.
I saw that film (Penguin Lessons) last month when I was in the UK. I wrote about it in my blog of the 29th of April, but you didn't comment, so I assume you didn't read my blogpost. I enjoyed it a lot.
Sorry for being so late. I had Internet problems,
have a lovely weekend,
Lisca

These are wonderful birds, completely different from the ones I see in Germany.
A great movie night!
