The Beginning is Simple

Today the summer is a wide open canvas for me to paint. I just LOVE the feeling of having such a big chunk of time spread out before me without the rigidity of a work schedule.  Or a summer schedule. It was  a tough school year-oh I can say WAS instead of IS. :)
I think my first summer project is to pick up my house a bit though. I've been busy the last few weeks and my poor house is screaming at me for a little TLC. Not only the house but my clean play space now looks like a storm blew through.
So today's journal  page is a really simple one. I collages the torn pieces from 2 Gelli prints (on deli wrap) for my background. I left the edge white on purpose. Then I added the face,  which is not mine but cut out from an old FLOW magazine.  I doodled the border and added a sticker.
So I also have a few ocean photos to show you. We went out in our boat on the ocean for the first time this season this past Sunday.
 We saw some interesting things.
 Two very large ships.
Paddle boarding dogs.
Fishing people and some others on the jetty.
Old houses, long empty.
A boat in a plastic bubble.
Open tread on a bridge, viewed from underneath.
Ropes hanging from the side of a boat.
And also, the bald eagles must be back at their nest on one of the little islands in the harbor. Here's one of them, but I don't know if this is mama or papa.

And another view of the bald eagle flying high.
I have a few more photos to show you again some other time, but for today, that's all for me. Enjoy your day.
Thanks for visiting.

Wonderful photos, how great to see that eagle, yay! Love all the boats and the paddling dog, too. Glad you have got school behind you and can now enjoy the next weeks. Take it easy and have BIG fun! Love the journal page you made, it is very effective, and the colours are lovely. Have a WON*DER*FUL day, hugs, Valerie

Your photos all look fantastic, it must be good to spend the day on your boat, when you can see things from differently from when on the land.
Its a great journal page as well.

Hi Erika! Thanks for coming by the Gypsy while I was gone! Lots of posts to come!

I'm so glad you have vacation in hand -- you know how to do it well! I love the page you made. And the photos are terrific. How wonderful to be on the water!

Must check and see what all I missed!

I was by earlier, then my computer froze before I could finish my comment. Instead of immediately rebooting, I decided to mow and water so I could get it out of the way before I went to bed.

I think a European friend sent me a copy of FLOW. It's an amazing magazine, if it's the one I'm thinking of. I love the entry you created.

I was thinking how all of a sudden your photos have begun to look like Valerie's. Lots of lovely boats. I especially liked the house in the plastic bubble because their flag was at half mast. Nice tribute to our friends in Orlando.

Needless to say I was in awe of these photos.

Oh thanks for these photos, Erika, photos of another world (or another part of the world to be precise). Love to see the boats and the water.
Your journal page looks great with the collaged background and the pretty border, and the lovely young girl too. I've just discovered "Flow" magazine so was interested to read the girl came from it.

I've seen bald eagles, but never close to where I live now. They are stunning, and you got such good pictures :) Thx!
