As The Days of Summer Wind Down

So Labor Day  2016 is in the books and now the school year is really in full swing here in New Hampshire. ( And most places in the US too!)  Labor Day is the first Monday of September here in the US (and Canada too but they spell it Labour Day), and it is end of the summer social season. Here in New Hampshire it also means the weather tends to start to change and often gets a little bit cooler with shorter days. But we are still due a few summery weather days for certain.
I have another journal page for Art Journal Journey today.
This month's theme is back to school and our hostess is Elizabeth. Many of you probably know I am a teacher. Right now most of students are 15-16 years old. I have 3 classes of biology with 67 students.   Our classes are a semester long, meaning they go from the start of school until half way through the school year, which is the end of January Then I switch them off and get 3 new classes. As I don't know any of my students right now (although they seem pretty nice so far), I need to learn their names. I usually sit them alphabetically at least until I can get their names down. But as with so many things at the start of the school year, nothing ever goes as smooth as I'd like them to be. You just have to be flexible!
So my page today is a little take on those first day of class teacher chores.
And Labor Day weekend has been a great chance to recharge my batteries before this new school year really ramps up.
My  afternoons lounging in my hammock are getting fewer.
So its also Tuesday which means it is T for Tuesday. Stop by and see what the T gang has been drinking and maybe even eating.
Holiday mornings are a great time for a big brunch. It was wonderful on a Monday morning to have everyone home. And have time for a leisurely late breakfast.  So I made some waffles and cut up some strawberries. It was yummy. Instead of maple syrup I sprinkled a little powdered sugar on mine. And since it was a late breakfast for me, I had a big glass of skim milk with my waffles. And I didn't need any lunch that day either.
Hope everyone has a happy T Day.

Since I was always the shortest person in my class (and everywhere still), I can relate to your Back to School journal entry today. It's so true, and although my last name didn't start with z, I was often placed at the back of the room.

Doris Kearns Goodwin has made it her life goal to write about the presidents. I've never read this one, but I suspect it's as good as the others I've read.

I'd have gladly joined you for brunch today. The waffles and fresh strawberries look so good. Yum! And milk is the perfect addition to a very sweet entree.

Thanks for sharing your art, your book in your hammock, and your great brunch with us for T this soon to be Tuesday.

I didn't realize you were a teacher ..... i hope this is the beginning of a glorious school year for you!! I don't think i would be very good at remembering all those names... even in alphabetical order. lol So good to visit with you this Tday Erika!! Hugs! deb

Oooh, your breakfast looks wonderful, wouldn't mind it with a cup of coffee right now....Great journal page, I know all about that feeling of having to learn names. I often had up to 12 different classes to teach each week, and sometimes got muddled with the names! Your journal page s fabulous, thanks for another entry for AJJ. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

Your breakfast looks delicious, I am pleased I have just eaten mine or I would be feeling hungry again.
It is good to read how your school year works, am I right in thinking your semester could be related to our 'school terms'. Only here teachers keep the same class for the whole school year. Its a great journal page.
Happy T Day

fun journal page! Yes, the days are getting shorter but I am thrilled that we are still having summertime days. How relaxing to lay in the hammock enjoying this weather along with a good read. Your special waffle breakfast looks delightful too. Happy T day!

Oh, those waffles with strawberries! That'd go so good with my coffee this morning :) I haven't read that book, but I think my husband may have. He likes presidential biographies. Happy T Tuesday!

A fabulous fun page! It's such a great way to help remember names getting them to sit alphabetically :-). Those waffles look scrumptious, we have a waffle maker which we bought in France it makes wonderful waffles, now there's an idea for breakfast tomorrow! Seems I'm always planning naughty baking when I visit your're blog ...lol :-). Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J :-)

Your AJJ page had me laugh.....so true!

Who wouldn't want a bite of that waffle? Looks yummy, yummy, yummy.....but I am trying to stay away from anything with flour.....the key word here is TRYING! LOL!

So far I love my Ninja....but have only used it for protein drinks, I really prefer to "eat" my veggies. It works wonderfully for that, and it is fast......love that part. I might try it for making sauces and things like that. I'll keep everyone posted.....;)

Thanks for the visit and Happy T-day

Fabulous idea for your page Erika - loving those quirky kids.
Your clock looks as if says 7.30 - is that the real time you start at school?
Yummy waffle - feeling hungry now and wanting food!!!!

You've been such a faithful reader while I have been away and offline and not so able to visit. Thank you! (You were in MV in September? I had hoped it would still stay somewhat lively till October... off season and all!)

I would love "No Ordinary Time," I think. Love Doris K.G. and the Roosevelts are fascinating. Must be all the more so since your Hyde Park visit!

I am reading Eleanor Roosevelt Volume 1 by Blanche Cook and Franklin and Winston by Jon Meecham, and they are both GREAT. What she went through I cannot believe. Love your school piece. It is so sweet. The BIG first day. It can be scary. genie
