T is for Taco Salad

Time for T Day. Every Tuesday we stop by  Bleubeard's andElizabeth's blog to share a little bit of food and drink .  Stop by yourself and see what the T gang has been drinking and maybe eating. :)
So this week my T Day photo is from this past Saturday when my husband and I were out running errands. We stopped for an early dinner at a  local New Hampshire restaurant called T Bones, and both of us had these fantastic taco salads. Other than the fried shell, this salad was full of veggies, a small splash of cheese and a piece of grilled chicken. It was delicious. The best part was that they had taken these off their menu but were willing to make them for us anyhow. Now my salsa came in a smaller bowl, but my husband is a salsa fanatic and he asked for a big side of it, and I think they brought him a small soup bowl filled with their homemade salsa.  Our drink was iced tea.
And here's another entry for Art Journal Journey. Its time for Back to School, also hosted by the talented Elizabeth.
Since I teach biology I decided to make a page about some of the things my students learn in my class.
I sketched and painted the microscope on a Gelli printed background.  Then I punched the circles and drew some of the things my students would look at when using a microscope. And I doodle in a little DNA because I wanted to do that.
I'm not sure I blind my students with science, but I couldn't resist using the title from this old 1980's hit by Thomas Dolby.  One of the lines in the lyrics is that she "failed me in biology". Hopefully I don't have to put failing grades on too many students report cards this quarter. But of course, all I do is record grades. The students are the ones who fail themselves. (What  reasoning, huh?)
So that's my post today.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Two wonderful entries, dear Erika. I adore the microscope because you did a fantastic job of making it look very, very realistic. And of course, the various slides are quite ingenious, too. You are sucha great teacher, i am sure the students all do well under your tutelage.

LOVE the big bowl of salsa. That's a big bowl, all right. I thought it was soup when I first saw it. You can tell this didn't come from a jar. And I'm sure iced tea was perfect to wash it and the salad down, too.

Thanks for sharing both your incredible AJJ art, as well as your tea and salad with us for T this week. Love it all.

Wow! That is some taco! I have never seen one that big! Did you eat one too?
I love your back to school page. Very original that you drew images of what can be seen through the microscope. I still remember the marvel of looking through a microscope for the first time and being amazed and humbled before such beauty.
Happy T-day,
and a good week ahead,
Lisca
