Ms Dreamer at the Beach

A little autobiography today for Art Journal Journey.
This month I am hosting, and the theme is Every Journal Page Tells a Story.
So if you didn't know, I am a teacher. This is my 32nd year at my current job.
Boy, that's an awful long time.
I thought the lady in this photo looked like a teacher. But not really me.
So what I really like about this page is my background. I tried something different. I had a bunch of pieces of ribbon, so I put matte medium all over my paper and then laid the strips of the ribbon down to make the stripey background. I added this magazine cut out lady who is correcting all that student work at her desk. Then I added in some assorted arty pieces which is a mix of doodles and die cuts. I even wrapped a little thread around the spools, which doesn't really pop on the photo like it actually does if you look at the page.
Yesterday we were talking about going north to one of the ski areas to go visit the Ice Castles exhibit, but then when we went to buy tickets online, we found that they were all sold out for the day. Changing our plans, we went in the opposite direction and walked the beach.  I do love living where I am right in the middle between both the ocean and our mountains.
We hit the tide just right. It was really low and we had a lot of beach to walk.
It wasn't sunny but the day was fairly warm (45 degrees F or 7 degree Celsius), and it was great to get outside and walk.
The colors of the shell bits laying on the beach were really cool.

And Maddie would have gone right in and gotten wet. The col water temperatures didn't bother her one bit. Luckily she was on her leash!
I love the texture  of this seaweed.
And this clump of tangled ropes and wire.
 And the hubby's reflection.

Happy Sunday!
And Go Pats! (There's the big semi-final game for the championship this evening!)

Wonderful pictures from the beach and sea, I so miss being near things like that. Your journal page is great, love the stripey ribbon background. I was 35 years a teacher, and yes, it seems like a looooooooong time, but I think you love your job. Have a great Sunday, hugs, Valere

Fun AJJ page.....very clever to use up bits of ribbon for the background.
Loved the stroll down the beach. We are between the mountains and the beach too, and it is nice when plans don't always work out.
Happy Sunday!! Hope your team wins!

I love your autobiographical story and illustrated journal page. You are rocking this month's challenge and making it difficult (and challenging) for those who follow you in the months to come. You have certainly set the tone for this year. I love your theme. It is so open and can be loosely interpreted, which I think is perfect for AJJ.

Glad to see you got to the beach and that it was warm. Your temps and my temps were apparently about the same. But I have no beach to visit, just empty wheat fields!

I'm going to root for the Chiefs. I don't care if they've been eliminated, I'm rooting for them anyway. No, I think I'll root for the Lakers. They may even have a chance this year!

Awesome page, your ribbon background is beautiful! I may just have to give that a try - thanks for the inspiration! Your walk along the beach looks wonderful, I can't believe Maddie went in that cold ocean water :-). Happy Sunday ... Go Pats! J :-)

I used to teach and confess to still missing it just a little bit, although not the amount of paper work we had to do! I love this fun page and how you made it with the ribbon! Great beach photos - god idea not to let your dog in the water you would have been soaked no doubt! Chrisx

The best laid plans! But the shell photos are fabulous -- although I have to say that your dog is a brave soul. That water can't be warm. In fact, it's probably close to freezing!
