Hot and Steamy

With all the wet and steamy weather we've been having lately, no wonder the mushrooms have all seemed to pop out of the ground all over the place.

I suspect this might be one of those seasons there are lots of mushrooms. I find their variety pretty amazing.

And I have a calendar journal page to share today. The background was drawn but needed to be colored. I then die cut a bunch of these flowers, but they were pink and I didn't really care for the effect, so I painted them orange with dark blue centers and added a bit of detail. Then I added the quote and a TH butterfly.
Beautiful summer flowers are a blessing so I am linking up to this month's challenge at Art Journal Journey (This month Bleubeard and Elizabeth are hosting and you can check out their art at their blog-Altered Book Lover.)
I am also trying out a new link up for me. More Mixed Media has an anything goes challenge with optional bright colors, which I think this page works for. :)
Happy Monday all.

Hello dear Erika your page looks gorgeous with that wonderful Doodle background. The red flowers build a good contrast to it.
Your mushroom photos look great. We have had noch rain since nearly six weeks, no weather for mushrooms . They like it wet.😊
Hope we will get rain soon.
Dear Greetings
Sabine

Fantastic journal page, love the contrasting colours and the great quote from Picasso. Nice toadstools, too. Here are also quite a lot, although they are usually to be found in Autumn. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

Pretty mushrooms! Here it was much too dry - hubby didn't find any recently in the woods. Maybe later this year? - But I don't think so. What a fab background and I so like how you altered the flowers to your liking! Just super ! Another fab entry linked to Elizabeth's wonderful theme! Thank you Erika, you always support the challenge in such an inspiring and wonderful way! Hope you had a fab start into the new week !The zucchini chocolate bread turned out yummie - Thanks for the recipe!Had my one neighbour here in the morning , my other girl friend and neighbour in the evening and gave some slices for another friend and now it's gone.
Have to bake it soon again!
Big Hugs, Susi

That is a real variety of mushrooms in the super photos you shared. Do you try to find their name variety?.
Your calendar page looks so bright and summery, I love those bright colours.
All my garden flowers have suffered in the heat this year and even the grass looks brown.

I've always enjoyed the mushrooms and toadstool and am always surprised at the variety. That quote is certainly a challenge for me. I love your color combination there.

I have NO idea how I missed this post, so please forgive my visiting late. Sally gets mushrooms and toadstools in her yard, but just around where they removed the tree a few years ago. They don't like my garden for some reason. I was super impressed that they wee all so different.

You spent a LOT of time on that journal entry. I love how you chose to color the background. Those complimentary colors are gorgeous together. And the flowers, on the other end of the color wheel, really POP because they are SO different from the background. I love how you changed them (colorwise), and in so doing, made them even better. Thank you beyond belief for sharing these with us at Art Journal Journey. I am simply thrilled you blessed me with this entry.

Surrounded by fungi at Dead Duck, biggest shrooms I've ever seen this year and everywhere. Nice page. xox

Fungi must be quite an inspiration for you - so many colours, shapes and sizes.

Usually I don't see fungi at the lake until into September or late August but it is early this year here, too. Very nice indeed!
