A Vacation Day

Hi everyone. It was cooler and cloudy today and so that made it a good day to be inside. I spent some time in the studio and worked some more on cleaning out my books. Oh you gotta love these stay home vacation days.
I finished up this page in my calendar journal for Wendy's Have Fun challenge at Art Journal Journey
I began by painting and stenciling with a Dylusions fish scale stencil.  Then I added these fun punch figures from Studio Light, Marlene 3 Cut Block. I picked up this booklet of images ready to punch out of the page and then add to your art. I thought they were pretty fun images.
I stamped the starfish on the corners and also added some sequins.
Here's a close up of the quote.
So there's still some piles of books to deal with, as well as a few things my daughter keeps at home for when she is home, but otherwise the project is moving along. Most of the piles towards the front of the photos are needed to be taken to a charity box, or binned up for my daughter to take. But I must say I am having fun doing this cleaning job as it is nice to rediscover books and organize them.
Hopefully I'll get it finished before I go back to work.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

A vacation of the imagination. I think I'd like to go with the mermaid and ride a seahorse. Pretty color background. Looks like the organizing is going well. Thought it always bothers me what a mess has to be made before it's organized. More rain on Friday so another stay in day. Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.

Wonderful journal page, love the pretty colours. Have fun clearing books and making some discoveries. Hope you get some good weather. We had BIG storms here yesterday evening after a hot and humid day. Hugs, Valerie

It won't be long and every day will be a vacation day (grin). You have done a LOT of work in that bedroom. It is starting to take shape. Keep us updated, please.

Your mermaid inspired journal page is wonderful. I really like that stencil. It was perfect for that page. I also like the punch outs. They are clever, go well on the page, and I'm sure they save time when you don't have time to draw something. Thanks, too, for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Wendy's theme.

Mermaids in art always appeal to me. It looks like you have a lot of books. I try to weed mine out from time to time. I like it best when I can pass a book on to a friend.

We're in the middle of a staycation ourselves :) Sometimes it's just the thing.

There are few things quite so satisfying as organized book shelving. Especially when you have room for so much shelving :) Nice!

A fantastic fun page Erika. I see we both have been tempted to buy and use these images. Your page made me smile when I saw the mermaid.

Such a fun page! The vibrancy of the colours is beautiful and the mermaid is adorable 😀. Looks like you've had a busy time sorting out all those books! The weather here has been glorious over Easter although it's turned colder now and we have rain showers today with some sunshine, more rain than sunshine though ...lol 😉. Happy Friday! J 😊

Love those images by Marlene - must keep a look out for those when I next go to my local store. That it is a lovely background that you have done, the fish scales are the perfect colour and I love the way you thought of adding sequins to the page. Something I would never think to do but hopefully will do now. Great inspiration and such fun!
