Hi everyone. Today I have a short post with another page for Chris' Hold the Line Challenge at Art Journal Journey
And today my LINE is a fishing line.
Today's page is a slightly mixed media painting by me. I started by spraying the background with dark blue ink. Then on a separate sheet of paper, I create the boat and fussy cut it out. I painted the water with a couple of shades of blue acrylic paint as well as a blue Stabilo pencil. The 3 fish in the water are gold paper fish, but those jumping out are ones I painted and drew in details. I also drew, painted and put in the details on the man, as well as his fishing pole. I wish he didn't look quite as stiff or folk-art like, but I don't dislike him.
Finally after painting in the clouds, I stamped and added the little quote.
I call this Fisherman's Dream because those fish jumping out of the water look like want to jump right right into his boat. They might be little fish compared to the ones in the water though, and I know he wants to catch a BIG fish!
That's all for me today. Thanks for visiting.

Fun page, that seems to be memories from fishing from your boat in the summer! Have a lovely day, hugs, Valerie
Your sea is wonderful. Well done, you! I love the whole page, but love your painted fish and man...he looks great. I'm impressed with your taking risks and painting your own characters. Brilliant. Cath x
That IS a fisherman's dream. And a mighty cute one! Reminds me of all the fishermen outside the cottage. It's perfect for the line challenge!
Fun page. I like the fish teasing him. At least he'll have a nice day on the water even if he doesn't catch anything. Have a great day!
How clever, Erika. What a great way to interpret Chris's theme at Art Journal Journey. Love your drawing of the man in the boat and the fish, too. So clever and well done, dear.
Clever.
Good morning, I love your page and I had thought of that for the theme too-something with fishing line-I am still working on quilts-will be through November I am thinking enjoy your day hugs Kathy
I love this because it does look like folk art. He is quite happy with the gold fish. You made a nice whimsical scene.
A fabulous page Erika, great textures in the sea and sky. Xx
A great take on the AJJ theme Erika, he does look like he is concentrating on landing a catch. I love this journal page.
Stay safe.
Yvonne xx
This made me smile as I thought of you and hubby going fishing in your boat. I love that he is Folksy.
What a good idea for "hold the line" - probably the best way to illustrate the challenge title if you think about it - fishermen certainly need to hold the line if they are to reel in their catch. I do like the way you have coloured your water and I think I need a blue Stabilo pencil. The gold fish are lovely whether paper ones or ones you painted jumping out.
Lovely work Erika!
Hugs, Neet xx
the page is very nice and fun. I love your fantasy!
Hug, elke
