Joy

Hi everyone. Another week has flown by. It is already December 11-wow!

Today I have another page for Tracey's The Meaning of... challenge at Art Journal Journey

I am really into creating nature based holiday pages this year (if you can't tell-smile). This page started with me cutting out this old cardinal die and then taking it from there.
My page is sprayed with blue , white and silver inks. Then I stamped the green cedar branch several times. After coloring my cardinal, I attached him to the page. I used paint and  a Sharpie marker to create all the baubles hanging around him.
The cardinals come to my bird feeders every now and again. I always enjoy the flash of red. They are pretty regal birds I think. My favorite birds at the feeders are the chickadees though because they are spunky, social, verbal, and look right at me when I go out to fill my feeders. I call them my chicks and talk with them. Some of them are brave enough to sit just a foot away while I fill and arrange the feeders.  I wonder if they are listening to me or just waiting for the food.  They often chirp away, but not their alarm call, so I guess I am OK since I bring them food.
In case you aren't familiar with chickadees, here's a photo from Audubon.org.

That's all for me today. Enjoy the start of your weekend!

This chickadee is so delightful, a perfect little bird. I wonder why we don't have chickadees in the UK. I think birds are far more intelligent than we give them credit for.
I do like your nature based page with the bauble filled tree. The red cardinal must give a lovely flash of colour when he comes to your garden.

Two of my favorite birds are cardinals and chickadees -- so thanks for putting both in a post!

Wow, what an amazing journal entry, Erika. It would go GREAT in my cardinal/red bird main floor bath. I'm in awe of the beautiful bits and bobs you added, too. This is an amazing entry and perfect for Tracey's theme, too.

As a nature lover too I'm giving a huge thumbs up to this beautiful spread Erika, I do not believe I have ever seen a Cardinal in real life, but the really do look most striking. Your page looks almost like needlework with it's adornments on the tree, what a beautiful piece of artwork.. Would make a stunning Christmas card. Hugs Tracey xx
P.S The chickadee is so sweet (tweet tweet!!) x
