More Secrets from the Secret Garden

Hi everyone.  Happy weekend.
Also happy first day of spring.  We've made it through another winter!

And if you are south of the equator, happy first day of autumn.

Today I am going to share 2 more pages from the Secret Garden journal that I recently made.

Here is my first page for today's post, but you can see it is not a single a flower.

The very bottom of this page is cut off in my photo, so the washi tape  looks like it is at the bottom  edge of the paper. Actually it is not quite so low on the page.  I needed to hold the book open and also hold my phone to take the photo. It made it awkward to keep the paper straight.

You can see that my background is made with watercolors, stamping, and a bit of stitching. I like the boy sitting on the flower too. He seems to belong there.

The other side of the spread has a little different watercolor look, even if the colors I used are  the same. This is what happens when you watercolor separate pieces of paper and then fold and stitch them to make the book. I wanted to put pages together that worked well by color or by design.  This time I went with the same colors, and they do work side by side.

This page is the one I am linking up to Sheila's, aka Orange Esmeralda's, challenge at Art Journal Journey. This month her challenge is A Single Flower.

The flower is pretty obvious.  It is stamped on acetate so it stands out yet you can see through it. I also added a scrap circular die cut as well as some gold foiled paper elements.

I like to think these boys are brothers, exploring Mom's garden even thought that is not allowed. They thought if they wore their best clothes then maybe Mom wouldn't be so mad at them, if and when she discovers where they are.

I wonder if they'll look so dapper after playing outside for awhile. I bet they didn't think of that.

Enjoy this first weekend of spring.

Beautiful journal page Erika and Happy Spring! we actually have full sunshine this morning, the eagle visited, and it is to warm up a bit.
I did check on the cast iron page and I was able to get to it by clicking on older post from the weaving post and also clicking in the blog archive at bottom of my blog so perhaps it was a glitch.

The watercolour background in the first page is beyond anything, I just love it. I'll take my AJJ hat off for a minute and admire the three flowers lined up and I agree, the boy looks good there The hen silhouette and the two birds flying through with the banner are fun too and decorate the page beautifully.

Hat back on again, on to the second page, there is a lovely see-through be-jewelled flower for the theme so thanks very much. I think this boy is even more proper than the first and I don't think they will be playing childishly in the garden, maybe later.

I love the idea of a Secret Garden journal and like these pages a lot.
Thanks for more great art for our theme, Erika.

Your page is really wonderful and you have made a great job with various materials. Love the boy and colors ♥️
Thank you for spring greetings. Although it's the vernal equinox here is very nasty wether. It's not snowing or raining. It's wet but I don't know the english word, cold wind etc. Some promises of warmer is for next week.
I wish your weekend is fine 👍🌺

Perfect pages for the first day of Spring. As long as the boys don't trample the flowers, or pick them, I don't think mom will mind. Oh, yeah, they better not get their Sunday go to meeting clothes too dirty. Enjoy the day!

These two pages must be fun to see them side by side. I love the background colors on both pages. Even though it is a two page spread I like that the backgrounds blend yet are painted differently. The first flower stamped in triplicate is fun. It leaves a lot of room to be creative with it...such as a mischievous boy sitting on it. The single flower on the second page is stamped on acetate! I have some acetate. I’ll be taking away this idea future use. I like that die cut piece in the background also. Great collage pages! Love your story of the boys in the garden.

Both pages look like spring, including the pastel colors you chose. These are both wonderful. I've not seen the bottom little boy before. I sure like the backgrounds and the single flower is great for Sheila's theme.
