Keep It Simple

Happy Tuesday everyone. It is already August, and already time for a new challenge at Try It on Tuesday.

Thank you to all of you who joined our Feathered Friends challenge. This time our challenge is Keep It Simple.

This is not the easiest challenge for me since I want to layer my background and add all kinds of details. I'm not even sure this page is that simple.  Smile.

Instead of a multi-layered and colored background, I simply used matte medium and attached this sheet of printed tissue paper from Dina Wakely.

The middle image is a shrunken picture of a pretty vintage book cover.  I die cut a couple of flying birds (which I believe are actually swallows not bluebirds) and inked them blue.  Then I added this wonderful vintage Mother and daughter image and gave them each a summer flower.

Perhaps it could have been simpler, but for me, this is pretty straight forward. If you check out the other design team artworks you can see some really gorgeous but "simple" pieces.

All kinds of art is accepted at Try It On Tuesday, and you have the next 2 weeks to join this challenge.

I am also linking up to this journal page to Neet's type challenge at Art Journal Journey   My background is full of text which is of course made of type. Just a reminder that only art journaling is accepted there.

I look forward to seeing all your Keep It Simple art, and I'm hoping maybe I can get a few pointers on doing that.

Thanks for visiting.

Such a fabulous page and easy to make so that keeps it simple 😉. I love how you layered the elements together and the touches of blue bring your design alive - perfect! I hope that you're having a lovely week and wishing you a Happy August! Hugs, Jo x

What a fantastic page! I am in love with the tissue paper from Dina that you used, what wonderful words there are for us to read and digest. This is a page I will come back to time and time again.
Gorgeous book cover with the birds and blossoms and your swallows (ok so they have that tail) look perfect sitting there - with artistic licence we can all imagine them as bluebirds.
The mother and daughter image is beautiful land I do like how you attached the two flowers with their pearl centres.
Thanks for linking to Art Journal Journey and Type.
Have a lovely day
Hugs, Neet xx

I think this is Erika-simple-style and I like it a lot. The book cover is very beautiful and I like your bluebird-swallows flying across it. The two ladies looks quite happy to be there with their summer flowers.
It's also very good for the text theme with all the words in the "simple" background.
Nice linking of the two challenges, Erika.

Simple is hard lol and I never know what folks mean by it. I like the layering and how those bluebirds of happiness tie it all together.

That was really very simple for you Erika. I love the way you incorporated the text to be able to link to Neet's theme at AJJ, too. I love how you kept it as simple as you did, dear.

Lovely page. Wouldn't The Blue Bird make a great name for a tea room?

The first part... YES - I´ll keep that in mind, the second... not here. If you don´t look down walking... 50% chance you march into dog-poo! I did once barefoot (it was still warm) and I lost a pair of sneakers.
Lovely page. Simple is hard!

The ladies are lovely vintage women, and take me to dream my past...

I agree totally about simple being one of the hardest things to create but that debossed book cover makes a statement all of it's own taking centre stage. Beautiful colour and background text. Withe the swallow duo it brings this page together so beautifully. I love it Erika.
