Make It Magic

Hi everyone.

The last 2 weeks have flown by, and it is once again time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday.

Thank you Silke for being our hostess and also to everyone who joined us for our summer themed challenge.

For our new challenge, our theme is
Make It Magic.

I went with some bold sunflowers for this challenge, as I was thinking about how magic a garden can be. You plant some seeds, water them, and voila, you have some beautiful flowers or some yummy veggies to eat after a relatively short period of time.

I made my page by first spraying the background with yellow and blue ink sprays. They created this nice bright green. Then I used a letter stencil and some bronze colored paint to create my background.

The flowers are made with yellow and the same bronze paint I used on the background as well as a sunflower stencil. Once dry I cut them out of the yellow paper I made them on.  At first I was going to glue them directly onto the background, but I realized they needed something to break up the bright green and bright yellow contrast. So I used a lightly painted piece of deli paper ripped into little pieces right around the flowers. It does cover up the green background a bit but the flowers stand out better.

The words are small letter stickers. And to finish my page I added some black painted circles outlined with a copper marker.

And don't forget to check out all the other design team members' art also. This might be a tricky challenge for some of you, but there is lots of varied inspiration if you visit all the design team's pieces.

I look forward to seeing your Magical art in the next 2 weeks.
Thanks for visiting.

I was impressed by the way you interpreted that theme. It is a very different kind of magic, but I really like how you created and shared it.

Very beautiful and reminds me of van Gogh.
If it only was that easy. No flower is blooming yet on my balcony.

I have had a catch up as well, sorry I didn't get to leave a message on each post, but be assured that I loved your art and enjoyed reading the posts.

What a beautiful, bold splash of colour. That would put a smile on the face of even the grumpiest curmudgeon. Hugs - David

Love your handmade sunflowers and page. The deli paper was a brilliant touch. I keep forgetting to tell you, when I shared our little bit of backyard garden, you commented about the pool. It's an inground party pool, hasn't been used since our daughter left home. We were going to dirt fill it in, but then Honey discovered a family of 3 turtles living in it, so we left it. There's 5 turtles now. I wouldn't want to fall into the pool, it's gross and probably qualifies as wetlands, hahaha. Anyway, it's a big turtle pond now. xoxo
