Hi everyone.
Another Tuesday T day has rolled around already. This month is flying. Last week I was finally able to get together with my walking friend Jo, as we hadn't gone out since early June. We decided to take a little road trip. We headed a bit south to Lincoln, Massachusetts and went to deCordova Sculpture park.
It was a lovely park, and they even had an indoor museum. I thought for T day I would send everyone a "heart" and share this interesting pair of statues.
You can see how the surfaces of the hearts had lots of images embedded or created on them.
And look, even a coffee pot perfect for T over at Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog.
And here's another drink reference for T Day, a partially squished aluminum can.
I wonder if the artist used items he loved on the hearts or just items he had at hand.
When we finished up with the museum and sculpture park, we found a restaurant with AC. It had been a warm and humid morning outside, although not anywhere near as hot as those of you with temperatures in the high 90's or even over 100 degrees F (up to and over 37 degrees C). The AC felt nice, and since it was going on 2 in the afternoon, we needed lunch also.
I ended up ordering this fried chicken sandwich that came with fries. It was a mega sized lunch and after a couple of bites I just ate the chicken and cole slaw (on the chicken) part of the sandwich. I couldn't even finish my fries. And because I wanted something thirst quenching to drink (along with the water I had already drank half of), I copied my friend and ordered a slightly tart hard apple cider. This is my third drink reference for T this week.
Lunch was yummy, and after walking around all morning, I could have used an hour or so on my hammock at that point. (smile) Since we had other things to do, and a trip home, I quickly moved past the sleepy haze of a big lunch.
To keep this post from getting too long, I'll share more photos from deCordova as the week goes by. I'll also wait and show my napkins once they all have arrived at napkin swap central. Thanks for visiting. Have a wonderful T day and week ahead.

That's one place I haven't been. The hearts are too fun. They remind me of the Highlights magazine of finding the hidden pictures. Stay cool. Happy T Day
Beautiful hearts, thank you for sharing those!
Hmmmm, fried chicken!
Have a happy T-Day, hugs and to summer!
What a treat to see the many facets of the sculpted hearts. I enjoyed thinking about botanical gardens at C.J.'s blog, and now you have another marvel for us to ponder -- sculpture gardens, which I also love! My favorite one is Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina. Sometimes Botanical Gardens also offer sculpture as well.

Looks like that you had a great day! The heart is piece of art.
How interesting. From a distance it just looked like textures hearts plus also you wonder about the scale and then when you see the close ups wow! Love the coffee pot in there and the garden shears. I wonder if the artist was looking for those later and couldn't remember where they put them haha. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
Gosh, Erika. This post is definitely all heart. I saw the steel drum mallets, the coffee pot and other things that I recognized in that heart. I strongly suspect the artist used what was on hand. It was fun to see them up close, though.
You lucked out with your lunch. That was a LOT of fries. I would have devoured those in a heartbeat. Nice looking hard apple cider, too.
Thanks for sharing the hearts, the sandwich and fries, and your drink with us for T this Tuesday, Erika.
Forgot to mention. If my temps were 100, I would believe I had a cold wave. Today is 107 F with feels like at 109. Night time is 80ish. It never cools down. SO glad I have AC, or I would die. Seriously!!!
What a cool statue! i would love looking for all the hidden items.. Sounds like you had a great time and i look forward to more photos! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
Wow, that's an amazing piece of sculpture. Thank you for showing it. Your lunch looks so good. Enjoy your day.
I've never seen anything like the HUGE heart! The planning for the design must've taken a long time.
Lunch looks tasty, but I'd never've been able to finish that sandwich lol Happy T Tuesday!
I loved the heart sculpture especially all the close ups-how fun to look and see what is all there in the sculpture. I wonder what the artist's thought process was.
Your lunch looks really delicious too Happy T Kathy
This is such an interesting sculpture that I had to google it. The artist is Jim Dine and he called this sculpture Two Big Black Hearts (you wouldn't have guessed, right?). I learned that he often leaves autobiographical references in his artwork. The tools for example reflect childhood memories of his grandparents' hardware store. I love the detailed photos you included - this really tells entire stories. Thank you for sharing this, Erika, and I look forward to seeing more of deCordova in future posts.
Your lunch looks delicious, Ericka! That fried chicken sandwich is something that I would go for.
I would never have thought that heart contained all those mini sculptures. How interesting! So glad that you showed it close up.
Looks like the temps are going to be hot this week in the Northeast. In the 90's. Too hot for sure. Stay cool!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Amazing that the heart sculptures had so many imbedded images. Thanks for sharing your visit to deCordova Sculpture park, and your chicken sandwich and drink. Happy T Day.
Like WoW - Really, Like WoW
Big Hugs,
Cheers
Road Trip Walking, that gives new meaning to Road Trippin', haha, walk but don't trip over anything. :-) Looked like a day of fun and those fries look delish. The one thing I don't eat as much of since home sequestration. No fast food and the frozen bagged fries are okay but not like vat-immersed-in-hot-oil fries. Napkins? I must have missed any previous mention so I'll just be pleasantly surprised. XOX
Wow! Those sculptures are amazing!
A resto with AC sounds like a great idea! I love the hearts and how they were used. That opening image is a wonderful installation but so, too, are the details on the other. It looks great!
I love sculpture gardens. And I'm looking forward to seeing more sculptures this week.
The heart is certainly interesting. Full of either symbolism or just plain fun. Who knows.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs.

Amazing heart sculptures. I think I could spend a great deal of time just walking around the hearts and identifying bits and pieces that I recognized. Looking forward to future sculpture photos.
Those sculptures are amazing. When we were in Paris we looked for restaurants with ac or shady spots. I hope it's cooled down for you. Hugs, Chrisx
