Halloween

Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday to you.

It is already time for a new challenge to start at Try It On Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Autumn challenge, and also a big thank you to Elaine (Ellapu) from KraftiKards Kreations for hosting  our last challenge.

Today we start a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday. Our newest theme is Halloween.

I have a journal page to share with you.

My moon face is a little creepy, but my witch looks too sweet with her 2 cats.

My background is actually a paper towel (kitchen roll) that had a lot of paint smears on it. I glued it down onto some watercolor paper and added some color to it. I also added some stenciling with both paint and some clear gesso.

At that point I really didn't have a plan for my page, but I thought the colors still worked for Halloween, especially with the black washi tape (that I stitched down after sticking it as it didn't stick very well) and my images.

The moon is a TH die cut image that I cut on silver and hand drew in the eye, mouth and mustache. He did need to be a bit creepy as it a Halloween page. (smile)  The lady is from an older sheet of witch images I had, as is her black cat. I cut them out. I had a gold oval scrap sitting on my work table from another project, so I used that to frame my lady witch. I also took 3 stars from the same TH die as the moon, added them, and used a bit of gold glitter on them. The quote is just the first line of a quote from an Alison Bomber set at Paper Artsy.

You have 2 weeks to join our Halloween challenge, and at Try It On Tuesday we accept all types of art.

And don't forget to check out all the great Halloween art from the talented design team too!

I am also linking my journal page up to Elle's challenge at Art Journal Journey. This month the challenge is Fairy Tales, Folktales and Fables: Tell Me a Story. Please remember only art journaling is accepted at AJJ, no cards, tags, ATC's or 3 D work.

Here's my story for AJJ. Various fairy tales have lots of witches in them, and the witches always seem evil. I think it's time for a not so evil witch. (Although I suppose Glenda in The Wizard of Oz could qualify as  an exception too.) My witch is named Marion, and she is a good witch. Under the light of the moon she casts spells that help protect homeless cats (and dogs too). She has just rescued 2 more cats, and she is quite happy about that. Marion is an original cat lady, as she already has 8 cats.

Thanks for visiting my blog. It is much appreciated.

I would love to have 8 cats! Sorry I got distracted by that concept haha. Love your kitchen roll background, it looks great, and your kind witch with her spells to protect homeless cats and dogs. That would be my kind of witch! Thanks for joining me for the October theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle/Empire of the Cat xx

What a very clever background! I love it! And the witch, and the cats (of course).

To friendly witches! The Brother´s Grimm had some, too. Oh, and isn´t there a series with three Sisters, who are also good witches?
Or think of good ole Jeanie! Does she count?
Either way - to the good in all of us, hugs!

Love this! The sweet witch with her familiars is so much fun - even if the moon looks a bit disapproving.

Oh dear, just read about your hives. I so hope they have subsided by now. Okay, a moon wearing a mustache is a first for me, heehee. You did a great job gluing down that paper towel, too. I can't see any crinkles. Like everywhere else, we have a feral cat problem here with lots of rescue cat ladies. Hope you feel better very soon, xoxo

The purple pink and the lime green go so well together for Halloween. The fact that they are colours used on a kitchen roll piece with its texture all adds to the spookiness of your page.
I think the moon looks a bit foreign, definitely a man as ~i detect a little moustache there.
Marion is a lovely witch and whilst doing good deeds she also looks as if she was from earlier times to me.
A super page, great to have it a bit different in its story.
Hugs, Neet xx

She looks a very happy young witch Erika and I am wondering if she is having a conversation with the moon. Its a fantastic Halloween inspiration page for the new theme.
Have a great week Yvonne xx

I love your Halloween pieces. You really rock the color. The moon -- that silvery moon -- really makes it!
