MIrror Mirror

Hi everyone. Happy Friday to you.  This week has flown right by once again, at least for me. I had a whole list of things I wanted to get done, and I think I maybe got about half of them done. Oh well. The sun was shining earlier in the week, and it was warm enough to be outside a couple of afternoons, so I took my book and found a  corner of the deck to read and enjoy the day. At this time of year, days warm enough to sit outside with a light jacket on are way too numbered to miss.

And today we have lots of rain. Better than snow, and we do need the rain.

I have some art to share in this post for Elle's Fairytales, Folktales and Fables: Tell Me a Story challenge at Art Journal Journey.

And since my art has a face and it is Friday, I am also joining Nicole's Friday Face Off.

And I am also linking up to GIllena's Friday Art Lunch Break.

My journal page today is my take on a scene from the film Snow White that Disney made famous in their 1937 film.

I started with a piece of black cardstock and added this piece of 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) blue printed paper. I liked the paper as it already had a border, and it looked a bit regal. I then added a square  of die cut felt. The mirror is also a die cut from some gold paper.

I found a face in a high fashion magazine that my MIL was throwing away and that I grabbed. (It has way too many great people photos to take up landfill space).  I cut out everything around the face and then glued it down on the mirror pieces. I also added some old pearl-like stickers I had in my stash and some gold glitter glue. There is as much glitter glue on the bottom as on the top, but the lighting of the photo doesn't show that. Finally I used some old gold stickers from stash to give the page some words.

I also thought of using a few other faces for this challenge, like a photo of myself or even a very elderly face, but decided not to. However, I may use this idea again before the month is out because I have a couple of other ideas.

That's all for me today. Thanks for visiting my blog. Enjoy the start of your weekend.

Good morning Erika, very cool art page!! loving all the textures too.
reading on you porch sounds so perfect. Next week the weatherman is showing 20's a few nights-so that will be our first freeze if that happens.

Nice face match the regal BG. The Disney's story is not familiar to me.
Weather turned rainy here, but is not too cold.
Have a lazy happy weekend 😀👯

Great idea and great face for it Erika. Doesn't she just look the part! I didn't realise it was felt until you mentioned it, that's cool too. Have a lovely weekend, hope you get some good weather. It never seems to stop raining here at the moment. Thanks for joining me for the October theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle/Empire of the Cat xx

Such a cool image, Erika! You must have quite a collection of art materials on hand. "Snow White" was the first movie I remember seeing. I loved Snow White, and she remains my favorite Disney princess, even if she seems hopelessly old-fashioned now. Good for you for taking the time to read on your deck. It's been way too warm for snow where I live. Only our highest mountains have had a hint of snow. Enjoy the weekend!

I SO agree! Well, here it´s too cold now, but this summer I enjoyed EVERY day warm - or hot ;-) - enough to skip sport and sit outside enjoying the weather!
I so miss it...
And rain :-) Do you live in heaven over there?

Great art of Snow White!
Oh, she is beautiful indeed!

Looking forward to tomorrow´s tale. It´s always a little "thing" for us to not knowing which fairy tale will be on after "Die Maus".
Have a great day, rain or sun (just no snow) - hugs!

Hi Erika, such a beautiful beautiful page. Very textural, too. It made me remember when we were kids...do you remember a movie called Snow White and The Three Stooges? It was my favorite for a while, saw it a few times.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055458/
It starred Olympic figure skater Carol Heiss with Mo, Larry and Curly as her protectors from the evil queen.
Whenever I think Snow White, I think of that movie, lol. The queen in the movie actually looks a little like the face in your mirror.
Believe it or not, we down here are a bit like you up there when it comes to Autumn days, but for us the really cool Fall days are treasures and cannot be missed because poof they are gone. Hope you get to enjoy more good weather before your dreaded winter kicks in. xoxo

What a brilliant idea. "Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all" works so beautifully for Elle's theme at AJJ and is a beautiful piece in its own right.
The simplicity of the piece says it all - the lacey background is so delicate and pretty and then the frame for the strong face provides impact in your journal. I love it.
Looking forward to seeing you using more faces from your great rescue find.
Hugs, Neet xx
