Happy Thanksgiving

Hi everyone. Happy Thursday to all of you. And let me wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating that holiday today.

I'm off to eat at my sister-in-law's home in Maine. I'm also going to visit, but since today is so much about food I am going to use the word eat as my main verb. My SIL's  husband is a professional chef, and if this turkey day is like the others we have shared with them, then there will be way too much delicious food.

I'm thankful for having my husband's family and all the yummy food there will be. But in these tough times, I sometimes feel a little guilty about having so much good Thanksgiving food.

Let me also share this page dedicated to all the cooks in all the kitchens today. You are really the star of the table.

My page started with a red inked piece of watercolor paper that I then added this smaller sheet of printed apple paper onto. I used a bit of washi tape and also added a couple of recipes, as well as this die cut cook and her stove.  I did some coloring and assembly of this vintage die, as well as adding the big silver star to the cook. She is the star of the day after all. To finish off my page I painted and outlined the circles along the bottom of the page, as well as adding the vintage style perishable sticker as well as some red buttons with threads.

This page is also a homage to my mom, as growing up we always had her family over for Thanksgiving dinner. My mom did the cooking, except for making the gravy. When I was little my grandmother used to make the gravy. My Nana was a really great cook, but her gravy was always so lumpy! Smile. When I was in my 20's I learned how to actually make gravy and so my job on Thanksgiving became the gravy master.  Once I was old enough (and long before I became the gravy maker)  I was expected to help my Mom peel potatoes and chop squash and help prepare all the other yummy foods we used to have on the Thanksgiving table. Those family Thanksgiving dinners are good memories I'm thankful I have.

I am also thankful to all of you who stop by my blog and have become blog friends.

I am linking this page up to 2 challenges. First of all the Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's challenge at Art Journal Journey This month they've picked food or collage fodder (or use both) as their theme. I am also linking up to Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge #88, and their theme is always Anything Goes

Have a wonderful day.

Those are sweet memories!
And a cute page, too :-)

I understand. We have so much, warmth, good food, company. And then there are those in war who have not even enough for anything, maybe not even their families.
But it does not help them if we feel bad and do not enjoy, maybe the other way round?

So: Enjoy. Hugs!

Happy Turkey, Erika. Honey's brother is a retired chef and restaurant owner, so I can relate to those good eats. I'm lucky that Honey is a bit of one as well. Their mom made them love to cook. Such nice pages yesterday and today. Love the layering and materials. And thoughtfully made. Safe trip and enjoy our holiday! xoxo

Happy Thanksgiving, dear Erika. I love your page today. I like that you focused on the cook, which compliments the food that is being fixed. I love the recipes, too. What a great die set, too. Thanks for this great entry using Bleubeard's and my theme at Art Journal Journey.
