Sunday Art about Art

Hi everyone. Happy Sunday to you.

Let me start today's post with a collage for Art Journal Journey. This month Bleubeard and Elizabeth are hosting, and their theme is Food or Collage Fodder. Of course you could combine both.

Today I have a collage about art, because unless you have some type of food disorder, you wouldn't want to eat any of these.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper that I only Gelli printed along the left edge. I liked all the white space it left me, so I layered a book page as well as a piece of black wood grain paper.

I also have a big book of Art by Marlene images, and as they are colorful and playful, thought I would punch some out and create an arty page. It may be cheating, and I do feel a bit like I am doing that when I just punch out images to use. But this page makes me happy, and some days, this is the best kind of therapy.

I finished off my page with a strip of felt trim, and I added some white sequins to it, because for those of us who do art, we definitely shine while in the art making process.

And here's a few photos from recent adventures. The first few are of Merrymeeting Marsh, an area of the Merrymeeting River that runs through my town.  I happened to be driving by fairly early one morning and stopped at a boat ramp to take these photos. The others are some milkweed pods that I spotted on one of my morning walks.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. And thanks for visiting.

Your art collage is just wonderful, Erika, and so are the photos. I'm so glad you've been able to enjoy some of nature's beauty and to make art in this challenging and sad days. Biggest hugs.

Why in the world would you think you were cheating if you used a punch out? It's collage fodder, too and it's fun. Thanks for adding all the little extras and for making this a really great entry using Bleubeard's and my theme at AJJ.

Your photos are magical. Some of the land looks so stark. And some is filled with incredible texture.

I hoe today can be stress free, dear.

Merrymeeting is a lovely name for a river. Your shots of the milkweed pods are fabulous; they are at their best when they start to release their seeds, so wispy and beautiful, with a lesson in wind pollination occurring right before your eyes. Thanks for this visual delight on a snowy Sunday morning in southern Ontario. Hugs - David

Wonderful journal page, and using cut outs is not cheating! Love the photos, especially the sun and clouds reflected in the water andx the milkweed seed. Have a great day, hugs!

Great artwork and photos!

We had a day or two of 70s F here in CT, due to remnants of hurricane / tropical storm going through. Now we're back to normal temperatures. NOAA even showed snowflakes for Tuesday, but now they put it back to rain. It's too soon for the white stuff! Brrr! :-)

I love the photos. What a fabulous place that is that you pass and those milkweed pods are lovely.
Your page makes me feel all happy and smiley inside, it is so colourful and the figure looks perfect peeking out at us.
I know what you mean about feeling bad using stickers but how else can we use our stash? This page was made for her and it is absolutely great. Love it.
Hugs, Neet xx

Oh wow, Erika! I absolutely love your art! I love how you layered different papers over your printed image, then added the playful images! I was really drawn into your page - maybe because I love art, too!!? Anyway, thank you so much for sharing this. And your beautiful photos, too. What a gift you are! Hugs, Sharon
