YAHOO-Just about Vacation!

Sew beautiful...eh? This card is my latest sewing card. I used an Oxford Impression stamp for the background, which I stamped in dark brown and then distressed it. The three fabric scraps are not actually fabric- they're from an older set of Hero Arts that stamp fabric scraps...love them...and I stamped them in red, dark pink and light pink and then cut them with pinking scissors. The stitches on the card are not real stitches either but some Autumn Leaves stamps. So should I call this the fake sewing card?  Anyhow...the girl is from Hero Arts and the sawing is from Cornish Heritage Farms. Add some buttons, a snap pin which is from older set...then I pinked the top and bottom edge of the card.

So its Friday, the last day of work before vacation...I am SOOOOOOO excited. Easter weekend too...my tooth is feeling a little funky right now....it better not be an infection brewing to wreck my vacation...though I wish I was going away and I also so excited not to be not doing anything and being able to be home...play in my studio, clean my studio a bit...work in the yard...walk...read...find some interesting things to do.

YAHOO!

It's Just Another Day

Closer to April....

Although the wind is still whipping...the snow seems to be melting...I need spring!

I need this week to move along too unlike last week which dragged and dragged...

But enough about all of that.

Here's a card I made last Sunday which I very much like. It starts with white cardstock. Then on a seperate paper I stamped this background stamp (Cornish Heritage Farms) and used red and mango ink for color the background. I used pinking style scissors to cut it out. I added some 7Gypsies paper tape before I attached it. I cut out the corner swirl on some flowered paper from 7Gyspies. The woman is stamped with an Oxford Impression stamp. I cut away a lot of the background around her but left the lacey bottom. I added a bit of Tim Holtz tape horizontally then and I also added a button sticker which I found tucked away in my sticker stash. The saying is from PostModern Design and I used a few gemstones in the corners. I'm very pleased with how this card came out. You know how it is, sometimes you like a card and sometimes you love a card you make.

So since I'm in a blase morning mood...wishing it was really spring like and in the 60's today (sorry- but I have spring fever so horriblely  right now)...here's some springy photos from our Death Valley Trip...a month ago!

Its Another Day

Its another day...even though its actually Monday night and I'm all alone, with a tongue and jaw that's still numb-had my tooth refilled-YAHOO! Hopefully all will go well...but found out I have an extra root-makes me unusual I guess-and the endodontist was behind having 5 emergencies  so got out of there LATE and by the time I drove home...ok, I'm complaining. Watching the recorded Ghost Hunters live Halloween show...feeling like I should be up in the studio doing some more cleaning but I must give myself permission to relax (as I did yesterday afternoon)...no sense getting too beat before its even mid-week. Plus, I am tired so when you start making art or cleaning and you're tired...it just doesn't work.Causes frustrations.  Does this sound like an excuse or what?

So this card is a recent one...the woman is Oxford Impression, colored with Copics and then distressed with some brown ink. I doodled the frame with back Sharpie, but I do love it. The pink background is distressed and stamped with brown flowers by B Line. There's punched Martha Stewart lace (with a ribbon down the middle of it) and the velvet leaves with a white Prima flower with a fleur de lyse brad-then they are "inked" with Viva metallic rub. Love how this card came out...every now and then I do get into a romantic kind of mood. Have a good day mates! (But I'm not Australian, am I?)
