Happy Tuesday ladies. I am glad to be back for this anniversary T Day party as I was out of town last week. My husband and myself had gone north to Canada and it was nice to be staying in a place where we had some new restaurants to try for food.

One night we went to this east coast of Canada restaurant chain called Jungle Jim's. One thing about staying in a small rural population area is that there are limited places to eat. I think in the week we were in Canada we tried all of the restaurants in town for our evening dinner, and a couple of them we ate at more than once.
I thought Jungle Jim's looked like a festive choice to share on this anniversary T Day.
I had a taco salad to eat, and to drink I had this very festive glass of sangria. There were strawberries, raspberries and this orange slice in my drink.
The taco salad was good but the restaurant didn't have guacamole. For me, a taco salad just isn't complete without it. (Hee-hee). I think the sangria was pretty good though.
And how about a few more photos from my trip.
I have a special anniversary treat for our hostess Elizabeth today. This is one of her favorite things. I thought of her even when I took these photos.
Lots of rusty bits from a shipwreck on the Newfoundland coast, the S.S.Ethie which went down in 1919. They are pretty cool.
After we wrapped up for the day my husband looked up the story of the S.S.Ethie on his iPad. No one died in this shipwreck as the lighthouse keeper from the Lobster Head Lighthouse and the surrounding community helped rescue them. There were a few women on board and even a baby on board. The baby was put into a mailbag to keep her dry and secure as she was brought ashore.
And then a couple of days later we visited this very pretty lighthouse at Lobster Head. The inside was set up as a museum to show what life was like for the 2 generations of a family that manned it.
While I was checking out another exhibit my husband came over to me all excited and told me I had to see this exhibit.
It was the mailbag that the baby from the S.S. Ethie was rescued in. You can see my husband's head shadow in this photo with his hat on.

This photo was taken on a gorgeous morning. My morning ambition today has quickly dwindled with the dark skies here today. We are suppose to get some nasty storms and maybe this humidity will break.

Good morning Erika, Oh wow I really enjoyed your post-and all that rust too-that would be awesome to use for dyeing fabrics on. Loved the story and glad everyone was rescued as well as the baby.
Your food and sangria looks delicious-I agree I would have loved some guacamole with the meal too.

I'm with you on the guacamole,Erika. It's tradition: guac with tacos; guac with fajitas, etc. You might recall the time we ordered fajitas and they didn't come with the traditional sides. So we asked if they had guacamole. Sure. They charged us $5 extra!
The S.S. Ethie is fascinating - almost a century it has been rusting away on that beach. Great story about the rescues and the baby in the mailbag.

First, I'm thrilled you are home from Canada. Second, my heart skips a beat every time I see rusty bits and pieces. These are fabulous and a perfect anniversary gift, at least for me (grin). Thank you for these, Erika. They are incredible photos. Such a fabulous back story, too. To see the mail pouch the baby was placed in to be saved added even more to the story. Just a wonderful treat for our anniversary party, and a great way to share both the wreck of the S.S. Ethie and the lighthouse at Lobster Head.
You really did share a party drink with us for T today. That sangria looks good enough to drink. And I could justify it because it would help fulfill my daily fruit intake (tee hee). Too bad there was no guacamole for the salad. It looked pretty good otherwise.

Hi erika, it looks like you and husband had a great trip and great weather too. I enjoyed seeing the photos from the shipwreck parts and also learning more about how people were rescued, especially the baby. Thanks for your comment on my post about Castle Hill on the Crane Estate. We checked the website on when it was open, which changes depending on the time of year. We did not go down to the beach. it was a very hot day and yes we heard that the green flies would be there, so no thanks! The admission is by carload and doesn't include a tour of the mansion's second floor which is an additional charge. To be really honest, I never fully understand the love for the Tuesday drink related posts, and usually avoid Tuesdays on my blog rounds on the whole (I am an arts and crafts blogger), but I really enjoy seeing your travel photos!! What an astounding place and what a wonderful story about the rescue! Loved that you even got to see the bag the baby was rescued in! Those rusty bits are amazing too!!

Love your photos for the T party!! yummy taco salad...I too would have missed having guacamole with it. The rusty bits of the wreckage are really quite breathtaking and you've photographed them in a very artistic way. What a wonderful post! I love the interesting story about the ship wreck (and I also love the rusty metal pieces. The colour is stunning). And to my surprise the mail bag the baby was in, was actually in the museum. So interesting.
Your taco salad looks yummy but I hate to say the sangria looks decidedly anaemic. Sangria is supposed to be red wine with a dash of brandy, some orange juice and lots of fruit chucked in. You thought is was pretty good, so there you are. Appearance isn't everything.

I'm sorry I'm late but the comment I wrote a few days ago doesn't seem to have arrived. I can't remember what I wrote but I know I was absolutely enthralled by the beautiful photos of the rusty ship remains and I love that rusty colour. Elizabeth will have been thrilled!
The story behind the shipwreck is so moving. I can imagine the excitement when you saw the sack the baby was carried in, at the museum! Wonderful.
You taco meal looks wonderful too. I'd go for that even without the guacamole. But the sangria looks decidedly anaemic. I would have expected Mexican sangria to be similar to the Spanish as that is where (some of) their roots are.
