I'm here today with a journal page for our newest challenge at Try It On Tuesday .
Our new challenge at Try It on Tuesday is book pages, so you should use some book paper in your art. I began with a piece of watercolor paper that I painted with some assorted metallic paints. Then I took a page out of an old illustrated science dictionary and ripped it into 4 vertical pieces. I attached those pieces to my painted background with matte medium. I also used some bits of a printed tissue paper.
This page needed something horizontal, so I did some stitching in white.
I then embossed some silver paper using a TH texture fade embossing folder. This folder embosses the entire alphabet, so as you can see, I cut some the letters out of the whole image. To age it a bit, I rubbed some black ink on it. I also stamped some postmarks on wax paper so I could adhere them and get a transparent view. To finish my background, I stamped some periodic table boxes randomly on my page from an older set of clear stamps I own.
Finally I added this group of girls and stamped my quote on their skirts using white ink. I like to think these young ladies are students of science and will help open doors to women in the future.

I like the vintage look of this page! It must have been fun to construct.
I admire your creativity! When the lineup was formed for creative brains, I was at the back and supplies were exhausted when It came my turn! My wife, on the other hand, received at bare minimum a double dose!
Your page makes me think of back to school. I really like the embossed alphabet. Maybe the young ladies have enrolled in secretarial school. Stay cool!
A delightful page Erika, playing to your own strengths as a teacher of the sciences. Great idea to use an old science dictionary to tear strips from and then I notice you have stamped some chemical symbols on top.
I would never have thought of stamping on waxed paper but you can be sure I will be trying from now on - love the postmarks.
I do like your pioneering young ladies and was unsure how you got the script on top of them. I am sure it was not easy to stamp in white on those images but you have achieved a fabulous effect. It makes it look almost translucent.
The Texture Fades folder and the stitching add even more lovely texture to the page and I love how the original colour of the page shows through.

I do love how you layered this Erika those little pops of blue really break up those vintage brown tones, wonderful combination. The Marie Curie quote is something to be admired, good solid words for those five young ladies.
