A Poem

Hi everyone. I hope your week is going well, and you're coping with the heat everyone, everyplace, seems to have.

I'll stat my post today with another page for Wendy's Door and/or Arches challenge at Art Journal Journey.

The red partial door was printed on an ad for a clothing store. It came as I cut it out, so you see the same partial door as I received on the mailing.

I began by layering the door along with some textured and also printed paper.
The base background is made on some lined paper, and I stamped (in light grey) the smaller line images you see on the right. I also inked the far right of the page with red and light brown ink. Then I used a Sharpie and a white pen to outline the far left edge for a bit more of a finished look.

Another find while doing the big clean were all the number stickers. These are really old and are back from my scrapbooking days.   I used a few as well as adding the leaf/flower/berry image. I added a few other details like the green paint pen edges and the sequins.  My page still looked a bit unfinished at this point, so I added the 2 TH women and also the short quote.

My quote is poem-like today because it is Thursday and time for Rain's Art and Dinner Date. This week her theme is poems.

And here's a couple of journal pages from back in 2017 when the theme at Art Journal Journey was Poetry in Motion. These 2 pages had  poems on them.

And I  have a food photo for the dinner part of Rain's Art and Dinner Date. This summer the hubby and I have been eating lighter, and one thing we frequently eat is salads. The other night we made one and then added some left over chicken tenders as well as a  hard boiled egg and some shredded cheese.

I was having a hard time getting the colors of my salad photo to come out and make it look appealing. Sorry it doesn't have normal salad colors.

The most exciting part of this salad was that I picked my first cucumber from my garden. Last year none ever grew my garden.

That's it for me. Stay as cool as my cucumber in this hot July weather.

Good morning Erika, great journal pages for the door challenge and also the poetry.
Your salad sounds delicious during these very hot days-it's perfect congrats on your first cucumber too, that's always exciting to find in the garden, especially during a hot summer. Happy thursday hugs Kathy

Isn´d love wonderful?
And oh, the croc is very cute, too.
Here it cooled down, sadly.
Good idea for next week with meat, I had cheese in the salad the whole week. Hugs and ... send the heat over, please ;-)

I like your poem and your journal pages. A cucumber already? Himself said he might be able to pick some things from his garden next week. There's a nice breeze in the sunroom. I hope your sun porch has a nice breeze, too. Sounds like a good day to relax in the hammock. A break in the humidity tomorrow.

Lovely pages Erika and the salad looks good. My daughter just showed me that I can easily lighten photos on my phone by clicking the photo and a sun icon pops up that I can slide to lighten

Hi Erika, the journal pages are fabulous. Give me a red door. I have one on my house. The salad looks soooooo good. The colors look good on this end. Awwww, nothing like veggies from the garden. My cucks are just now coming in. We had terrible rain until June, so everything here got a late start. Have a great day today.

Tasty! I haven't been doing salads, and I'm not sure why. I need to improve my grocery shopping. Congrats on the cuke!

I love this latest journal entry, Erika. I also like this new set of TH dolls, too. You used junk mail to your advantage and used it wisely. This is a great entry for Wendy's theme at Art Journal Journey.

Nice to see the poetry mixed with some lovely art, too. You are much better at art and drawing than I would ever be. These are both great.

I fixed a tuna salad for lunch today. I should have photographed it, but it certainly didn't look as appetizing as yours does. Great to see your first cuke, too. The ones my neighbor planted seem to have died on the vine.

Your salad looks delicious even though the colors are a bit off. This is something that just happens - did you take the photo indoors with artificial light? Your art journal pages are lovely and fun - that croc is simply great! And who doesn't love a red door?

Love your pages. I was thinking I should go through my stuff because I know I have stuff to use, but then because of my arthritis infusions something like that makes me very overwhelmed and anxious. I get way over stimulated with ideas. Your salad looks delish, I love radicchio and cucumber. "Cucudos" on your first harvest. I've got a cucumber bacon tomato salad recipe for next art date with Rain, so stay tuned for the recipe, it's soooo good. Honey volunteered to make me stuff to share, lol, gotta love that! xoxo

Your collages are clever and fun and your poetry is perfect for today's prompt. Yes, salads are in at my house too. Yours looks delicious and we often add chicken to our salad to make sure we get our protein. Fun post, Erika ...

Not hot any more here in the north of England - rain! Welcome too!
Love your page with its red door but it looks quite warm where those two ladies are so I am surprised they have not melted in those coats. Perhaps the building is keeping them in the shadow and it is a wee bit cooler. Love the words.
Hugs, Neet xx

Three beautiful pages Erika, and I love the words.
We've been eating lots of salads, and thankfully it has cooled a bit here.

Heat? What is this thing you speak of Erika? It's a cold and rainy summer over here :( Nice journal pages and that's a delicious-looking cucumber! I didn't realise you were having a clean up/clear out, how exciting to find interesting things to use. Elle/EOTC xx

Your first little cuke is gorgeous! And congrats on the pickling! I have not ventured into pickle making yet, I am hoping to try that this fall! Your salad looks very delicious! I love your crocodile Erika! The "red door" poem is beautiful and very romantic! ♥♥
