Keeping It Light

Hi everyone. I hope your weekend is going well.

I'm in the middle of a busy stretch of the month. The busy part is mostly fun things, but part of me is longing for quiet time.  Tomorrow (Monday) I have nothing on the calendar, and I can't wait.

I thought I would share this journal page for Wendy's Doors and/or Arches challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Keeping things white is not something I usually do, so I thought it would be  good lesson to refrain from lots of color on a page.

I used a gelli print transfer on deli paper on the bottom and right side of my page. This time my print picked up some green off the magazine page as well as the black image.

While going through bins of paper during the "big clean" of my art space in the past few months, I found a small stack of paper doors and arches. I left them where I could find them, and I used one without coloring it on my page. You can see the shrine doors actually open.

I added the golden sun and also 2 clear plastic crafting dots.

Finally I dug out an old Stampers Anonymous rubber stamp I own and stamped it a few times on my page.

And that's all I did. I actually like the result, and it was good for me to stay away from color-smile.

That's all for me today. My daughter is home this weekend; it's hot; and later today we'll be heading up to my MIL's for our usual Sunday visit.

Thanks for visiting.

Nice execution of challenge! I'd be soooo bad at it. LOL How fortuitous to find those doors! That's a very nice door shrine, reminds me of the stuff they sell at Alpha Stamps. Oh, I know you are going to have fun at MIL's, water is your happy place. Enjoy and have a wonderful Retiring Monday, haha. XOX

"Back in the day" I hated this saying.
But it became true and every new entrance was even better.
So much so that I fear to leave this "room".
Wishing you a quiet Monday. Here: Stress! I had to make pizza sauce (old tomatoes) hence I need to make pizza! LOL.
And paper work. And work and bread for Ingo and....letter to Bro...
But! Summer will be back - to a happy new week, hugs!

Dear Erika,
I'm similar to you, I'm experiencing a busy time with mostly fun things, but part of me is longing for quiet time, too. It doesn't matter, things will calm down again and then we'll have great experiences to draw on!
I like your artwork with sun, window and wise saying very much.
Happy new week and best wishes, Traude

just got a gelli plate and want to use it to transfer images. Once upon a time I made one of my own, terribly heavy and awkward, and got moldy pretty quickly. I like your words, and the partial images

Love your page Erika, in my favourite lime green as well. That was a very useful find of the doors and arches too. Have a great rest of the week and weekend. Hugs Wendy.

What a delightful page - a great idea to show white in all its glory with just that hint of colour. I do like the fact that you chose lime green as your accent colour, it's sharp and clean and crisp. A very lovely page. Fabulous shrine.
