Open Your Door to the Outside

 Hi everyone.

I'm back today with another page for Wendy's Doors And/Or Arches challenge at Art Journal Journey.
My page today has some rough looking doors that I drew and colored with ink pads.

I started my page with a photo I took last fall during my trip to California. It was big enough to be a background. Then I added a bit of thin tape on each edge to cover the paper and to make my page look a little more finished.

The doors are sketched and rubbed with an ink pads to color. Then I used a Sharpie to add details as well as also using 2 little black plastic craft dots for the doorknobs.

After they were glued and dried on my page, I added the butterfly stickers, as well as some acrylic "star" shaped frames. Inside the frames I used my cover all white ink, and when that dried I added some details. I also used a few small black hexagons left over from a die cut.

I used some old green letter stickers to create my quote, and I finished off with a little blurb about butterflies and months.

The butterflies on my page are monarchs that were overwintering at Pismo Beach, California.

You might remember a few photos I shared last fall or winter.

That's all for me today. I hope you're having a great week, and thanks so much for visiting.

A great exhortation to everyone, Erika, to open the doors to nature and enjoy it, along the way preserving and protecting it. We need it more than ever. Hugs - David

Beautiful! We don't see monarchs here any more, so it's good to see photos :)

Discovering nature is always a good idea, great work and I think a reminder for many kids that are glued to smartphones etc.
Proud to say my Nieces don´t need it (yet)! Plus they live in a village.
Hm. Dunno what I saw. It was but white, two of them. Moths, then?

I'm so lovin' your hand-drawn elements. Your door looks awesome with your photo background. I have those same green stickers and they've been very useful, still using them. Happy FriYay, xoxo

I'm in catch up mode, so this will be short. I love the butterflies, the background, and all those photos of monarchs. I like how you compared them to moths, too. It's a great page for Wendy's theme at AJJ, too.

Gosh Ive been missing quite a while by the look of it.
Another fabulous page Erika. I am well impressed with your drawing skills, those doors and the frame are very realistic. An interesting fact that the background was from a photo taken whilst on holiday in CA.
Extremely interesting photos accompanying the page.
Hugs, Neet xx
