Hello February

Hi everyone. Happy new month to you.

Before I move on to introduce our new Art Journal Journey host for February, first let me thank Mia for having been our January host. As you can see from today's page that my dotty stencil was still sitting on my work table. However, I want to assure you that  this isn't a left over page from January. And thank you everyone who shared dotty pages too. It was fun playing with dots, wasn't it? (In fact so much fun, I'm still playing with them. 😏)

This month Bleuebeard, Elizabeth, Mia and myself want to welcome the talented Vicki who you probably know from her blog Stamped Smiles. I'm glad Vicki wanted to come back and join us as another month's host, and she's picked a great theme too. For February, it's all about  MUSIC.

We've had a few challenges in the past about specific songs, but I am excited for the broader topic of Music. I have several music themed stamps that I haven't used in a long time (as you can see on my page today) that I am excited to have a  reason to use.

I decided I wanted some bright and cheery colors to celebrate the new month (even though winter isn't over, the darkest days of it are and we are also just about half way to spring  too). I decided to go with pink and orange. To create the energy of music I added the pink painted curves across the background.  I also added a small piece of music printed tissue paper.

The cassette tapes and  the playlist quote are from a couple of old Technique Tuesday sets. I stamped the cassette tape several times as well as coloring and fussy cutting them out.  The musical clefts and notes are from a single big die. And since there was a butterfly on the musical tissue paper, I decided to add a few images of them to my page. They are from an AALL& Create set of uncolored butterflies.  The way that butterflies flitter does remind me of the way musical notes move in certain music pieces, though as far as I know no composer has ever used a butterfly as inspiration for a particular song. But if you know of one... grin.

Please remember that AJJ is all about journaling and NOT about card making. It's not that we don't love cards and card making either, but please limit your link ups to journal pages of any kind.  Hopefully you're as excited about music as we admins are, and I know I'm looking forward to see what people do with that theme.

Have a great weekend and start to the new month also.

I feel OLD. I actually still have a few cassette tapes and the player, too. This really brought back memories of days gone by. Thanks for sharing this first fun entry with us using Vicki's theme at AJJ.

Your colors are fantastic and work beautifully with your music notes dancing about with the butterflies! I love the added cassette tapes (which the younger ones will not know the joy of! LOL) Really fun details and a great way to start the musical theme my friend! Thanks for the lovely intro and inspiration!

Music is much more intellectual and complex, but dots are far easier :)

Yes, the days are getting longer, yippee and your colors and curves really give a very vibrant touch! As do the butterflies!
Oh, cassettes, those were the times, huh.
And here the sun came out, too - have a wonderful start into February, hugs

Those tapes...I wonder if kids these days know what they are or not.

I love the bright colours you have chosen to use - just what I need to banish the winter blues. That has made me feel a whole lot brighter - and what does music do if it doesn't brighten you up. Great page altogether and i still have old forms of listening to music like you are showing.
Hugs Neet xx

Fun page. You need a pencil just in case the tape loop spools out.
😺Rabbit, rabbit. White Rabbit. A dusting of snow this morning. The sun is now out. I think another little bit of snow on the way tonight. Is it July, yet?

Hi Erika! I LOVE your page!!! I still have my cassette player and cassettes. My sister made me a Christmas playlist and it has my favorites Christmas songs on it, which I will always treasure!! So thanks for the memories, my friend. I love your bright colors and dotty background, too. Have a great day!! Hugs, Sharon

Oh those were the perfect choices for background color and I like the pink waves. Really makes your foreground elements stand out. Well, I can brag that I never owned an 8-track or tape. Dated a few guys that had them in their cars, though. I was vinyl, then cassette, etc. xox

Erika, love the colors and details on this - especially those tapes. I ran across some of them with my grandson the other day and he asked about them. I tried to explain they were very popular at one time and how they were used - he looked at me like I was crazy. Doesn't really seem that long ago that I still had some of them. Great page. Hugz
