T Stands for the Final Summer Play and Then Some

Hi everyone. Happy Monday and happy new week to you. And hello to everyone who stops by Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog  for our weekly T Day meet up.

So what's new with me? Last week I continued with physical therapy and had something called Dry Needling done on my shoulder.  It's kind of like acupuncture but they also use a light electric current while doing it. It's supposed to be very good at breaking up knots in your muscles, and I have to say even though I was sore for about 24 hours afterwards, it has made my shoulder feel fantastic. 👍

Otherwise I also went walking a couple of times and did some basement cleaning. The basement cleaning isn't very exciting except that I was able to get the new shelves my husband built (and that I mentioned last T day) organized. Now I can actually find things on the old shelves where everything had been crammed in and on the new shelves too. 😊 Those new shelves are actually pretty organized.

I also have a honey update. Thanks for all your comments on my Sunday honey post. I had read that since honey is more dense than honeycomb, if you let the comb sit for the honey to drip out, eventually the comb will rise up and  end up floating on the honey. That makes for easy removal. Well low and behold, it is doing that. 😊

How cool is that? I'm sure by the time I come home from my road trip the comb and the honey should be completely separated.  👍

A couple of weeks ago,  three of my friends and I had tickets for a play at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit. Maine. It was our final play of a 3 show season pass we had bought back in the winter. This time the play was a  comedy called (as you can see in the first photo) The Producers. Since it was written by Mel Brooks (of Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles fame  as well as some other screwball comedy films you might be familiar with), it was full of laughs and crazy situations. That made it a fun production.  (And I think, although I have never seen it, this play is also a movie.)

I'd actually seen this play maybe 20-25 years ago in Boston, but all I remembered was the crazy Springtime for Hitler in Germany part and laughing A LOT. The story of this play if you're not familiar with it is that a Broadway producer is told that if he puts on a flop he'll end up having more money and have to pay less taxes than if he produces a successful play. He joins up with his accountant, and they set out to make the worst play possible.

That play is written by a former Nazi who is sad that the Nazi's didn't win the war, and the play is called Spingtime for Hitler in Germany. Even though everything sounds like it should be a one night bust, the play ends up being a hit.

Again, no photos are allowed during the production, so here's a few  shots from the Playhouse's website.

Since it's T day, I need to share a drink. Here's my glass of wine in my cup that I bought at the first show this season. If you save and bring back your cup, you don't have  to pay for another cup next time you are there. After this show I tucked my cup away in a cabinet for next year, because hopefully they'll be doing some good shows, and we'll be getting tickets again.

That's it for me this week. I'll also mention I won't be joining in for T next week as my husband, the dogs and myself will be on a road trip to Canada. We're heading back to Nova Scotia  for a few days and then we're driving to Prince Edward Island which will be a new province for us.  Since I'm not sure how my internet will be (and also how busy we might be), I might stop by blogs and I might not.

Have a super T day and the next couple of weeks ahead everyone.

T Stands for Another Play

Hi everyone.  Happy new week to you. And hello  to everyone who  stops by Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog   blog for our weekend T Day meet ups.

Last week was a nice balance of busy days and not so busy days. Of course a couple of rainy/cloudy days didn't hurt with that. 😉  My husband finally finished getting his boat ready for the season, so one day we went out and went fishing (and ha ha, guess who caught most of the fish; my poor hubby was kind of sad it wasn't him 😁). It was also time for a second play at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine.

You might remember from my T Day post a few weeks back that this year some friends and I bought a 3 show season pass to the theater. Last time we went to see a show about The Temptations (click on the link if you're curious about that play post). This time we went to see a classic that I had never seen either on the stage or  the film version.

Again, no photos are allowed during the show so I borrowed a few from the playhouse's website.

What a fabulous show. An usher told us during intermission that 3 of the actors, including Dolly, were Tony Award winners from Broadway and also that the costumes came from a Broadway production of this play. I'm not really up on Tony Award winners, but I can say that the whole cast was amazing. Here's some photos.

You can see there was a lot of singing and dancing. Plus the sets were amazing. I'm always very interested in how they make sets. I know very little about how a stage is set up and how they are managed so maybe that's why I'm always curious about that.

You might remember that last play post I mentioned how they have these  glasses that you buy with your first drink and then if you bring them back you only then have to buy your drink, not the glass also. Here's my ticket for T this week since I brought my glass back with me.  This time I had some prosecco, and I'm inside the theater in my seat. The lights made a lot of glare, and my phone couldn't quite decide if I was taking a photo of my glass or the curtain backdrop.  But anyhow, here's my drink.

And here's a clearer view of that intro background that we saw before the play began.

We don't have tickets for the next play, although we have talked about getting them because we've had such a good time at these first 2 shows. Our final season ticket is not until early September when the play will be The Producers, which I have seen years ago in Boston. It's by Mel Brooks, and I remember laughing non-stop. I am looking forward to that show.

I hope everyone has a great T day and week ahead. And for those of you in Canada who don't stop by frequently, have a great Canada Day, and for those of you in the US, have a wonderful July 4th holiday.

T Stands for Motown

Hi everyone. Happy new week to you.  I hope you had a great past weekend also. Since it's time for T  over at  Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog, hello to my T day blog friends.

Last week summer arrived with some hot and humid weather for a couple of days. Then it cooled off and we were back into early spring like weather. Then it rained. This week I think we're going to be back to normal temperatures. Maybe. The weather this year has just  been crazy and unpredictable. I'm not sure even the weather people can  forecast it very well. 😏

I've still been working in my gardens when it's not too hot or too wet or even too cold, but I also had a fun day out last week. Some friends and I went to a play at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine.

For the last couple of years we've gone to one play a season, and since we've always had a good time, this year we decided to try a 3 show season pass. Doing that meant we picked out the shows, dates and times we wanted back last winter, and now it's time  to start seeing those shows.

The  summer theater season has started, and the opening  show was one of the plays we wanted to see, so last week we saw our first show.

The first show this year is Ain't Too  Proud To Beg. It's about the life and times of the Motown musical group The Temptations. (You probably already know their music and name.) It was excellent, and there was a lot of great music. It was also really nice to see that an afternoon matinee was sold out. Or at least I didn't see any empty seats from where I was in the theater.

Photos aren't allowed during the show, so here's a couple I also borrowed from the internet.

Before the show we went to lunch. Then we each got a drink at the theater. My glass of wine is my ticket to T day this week.

You can also see a bag of peanut M&M's  ( my dessert for the show) I bought.

You have to buy a glass if you don't bring one with you to the theater. Well you can't bring just any glass. Once you buy one of these theater glasses you bring it back to the next play  if you want a drink. Then you just pay for your drink and not the glass too. The last couple of times I went I had a borrowed glass, but this time I needed to buy one. (But they aren't very expensive, and a good way to get people to recycle too.)

We'll be back next month for another show, so now I just need to remember to bring my glass with me then. 😏 Next month the play is a classic which I have never seen, not even the movie version of it. Next up is Hello Dolly.

That's it for me. Wishing everyone a great T day and week ahead.
