More Romance

     Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday. It's NOT time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday yet, but I do have a mid-challenge journal page inspiration to share.

    Our current challenge is romance, and you still have week to join if you have romance in mind. ❤️ Or for our challenge, something creative being made on your art table. 🤪

I'm also linking this up to Vicki's Music challenge at Art Journal Journey.

     For my background I used a sheet of Ciao Bella paper (from the Tango set). You can notice it is covered in sheets of music. I then used a Funky Fossil lots of hearts stamp I have and I stamped it a few times on the bottom corner. This romantic couple is an old Postmodern Design rubber stamp that I pull out every few years. I stamped this couple on white paper, colored them in, fussy cut them and then (although it doesn't show up well in the photo) I added some silver glitter glue to the woman's dress.

     To finish the page I added some die cut musical notes and cleft. I also took a die cut tag and stamped the words on it. After that I outlined the tag with black and red Sharpie. Finally I finished it off with some washi tape along the bottom.

Romance

 Hi everyone. It's time for another new challenge at Try It on Tuesday 

     Before I get to that, thank you everyone who joined our Oh What A Night challenge. Those of you who joined in shared some fantastic night art. ❤

     With Valentine's Day not too far off, our newest challenge is ROMANCE.

     I made a journal page using some  cut out images from a Ciao Bella paper pad (Tango), a punch out piano from Stamperia's Music themed release, as well as some bit of printed tissue, a scrap of red ric-rac trim and a white paper frame. The background is a sheet of printed paper also from Ciao Bell'as Tango set that I added a few gesso painted dots to. Finally I used some old clear stamps to stamp the word and the XOXO, and I added some half pearls. 

     I'm not sure a piano  would be the main instrument for a tango or tango type of dance, but I like how this one looked. Plus it works with the bit of keyboard in the bottom right image.

Time for a New Challenge

Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday. Since it is Tuesday,  and since it's been 2 weeks, it's time for another challenge over at Try It On Tuesday.

     First let me thank Julia for hosting our In The Garden challenge. And thank you everyone for joining in. There were some lovely pieces submitted, and you can't go wrong with garden art-at least in my mind.

This time our new challenge is

Keep It Simple

      My page is so simple I never even added a quote. It looks a bit bare because of that, but I still like it. I started by cleaning on a brush that had some black paint on it in my small journal. Then I added a piece of scrap paper that I believe came out of a package. I added the frame (maybe by TH), and a small die cut heart of some scrap paper that I'd painted and stamped on. Then to finish my page I added the polka dot washi tape down the side. 

      

      Don't forget  to check out the other designer's pieces for some ideas too. Some people just have the knack for simple, but for me, it's a tough one. I just like to add a lot of details to a base page. 😏

      Our challenge runs for the next 2 weeks, and we accept all types of art. I hope you feel like going simple and join us at TIOT. 

         And I am going to make my post simple too (ha ha). So that's all for me this time.

Halloween Still Life

 Hi everyone.  It's once again time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday

First of all let me thank Melanie for being our guest designer for our last Autumn challenge.  I also want to thank everyone who joined us. ❤

For our new challenge it's time to get spooky. Or have some fun with witches, goblins, pumpkins or perhaps  trick or treaters. You can  create art with any of the  symbols for this autumn holiday. Our new challenge for the next 2 weeks is

HALLOWEEN

I wasn't going for spooky when I started this art journal page, but somehow my page didn't quite end up like I thought it would.  I like it, but it is darker than I expected it to be. 😈

I started by using some vertical stripes of washi tape and then inking my background with brown and purple ink.  Then I took out a few dies to cut out my images. The skull die as well as the spider and candelabra die are from Tim Holtz and the witch's hat die is from an old Sizzix die that also has an owl on it. I chose not to use the owl here, but my first thought was to put the witch-owl on top of the skull but sadly my journal page wasn't big enough.

That's when I decided to make a still life. I created a table top on the bottom of the page with a Stabilo colored pencil and a wet paint brush. Then I die cut all my pieces. The skull was painted with some various paints, as well as inked a bit, and the teeth were made whiter with a white pen. The hat was inked with black and then I used an orange Posca paint pen to make the brim. The spider was colored with ink pads, and the candles and candelabra was painted with various paints and also some markers. I also used a Stabilo pencil around it to create some shadow and smoke. 

Finally I stamped the spider web as well as the quotes, although the quotes were stamped on a separate piece of paper. I cut the quotes out of that sheet of whole paper and inked that paper with brown and light blue ink. I also inked the edges of my page to give it a vignette feel.
