More Romance

     Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday. It's NOT time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday yet, but I do have a mid-challenge journal page inspiration to share.

    Our current challenge is romance, and you still have week to join if you have romance in mind. ❤️ Or for our challenge, something creative being made on your art table. 🤪

I'm also linking this up to Vicki's Music challenge at Art Journal Journey.

     For my background I used a sheet of Ciao Bella paper (from the Tango set). You can notice it is covered in sheets of music. I then used a Funky Fossil lots of hearts stamp I have and I stamped it a few times on the bottom corner. This romantic couple is an old Postmodern Design rubber stamp that I pull out every few years. I stamped this couple on white paper, colored them in, fussy cut them and then (although it doesn't show up well in the photo) I added some silver glitter glue to the woman's dress.

     To finish the page I added some die cut musical notes and cleft. I also took a die cut tag and stamped the words on it. After that I outlined the tag with black and red Sharpie. Finally I finished it off with some washi tape along the bottom.

Friday Face Off

 Hi everyone. Happy Friday.

Today I have a page for Nicole's Friday Face Off , Gillena's  Friday Art Lunch Break, and also Valerie's Anything Goes at Art Journal Journey.

I hope you were able to say hello to the sun this morning wherever you happen to be in the world.

I inked my page, and then used a stencil and some black acrylic paint.  The sun is a chipboard piece I had in my stash that I painted yellow and then drew in the face. Finally I stamped the quote and added some tiny foam yellow stars.

There's sun at my house this morning, but more snow is coming to New Hampshire  (Friday) tonight and into tomorrow. They say this will be the biggest one all week; we could get a foot (30.5 cm) or even more. What a winter weather week it's been. It's a good thing I've had lots of art projects to work on. Smile.

The Gingerbread House

 Hi everyone. Happy almost Christmas to you.

Today will be my last post until after this weekend's Christmas holiday, but I wanted to share this gingerbread house journal page I made with you. I'm quite happy how it came out, especially since I was just randomly cutting paper to make it. 

Most of today's page is drawn and fussy cut by me.  The only thing I die cut was the mini gingerbread people.

I used brown craft paper for the gingerbread structure, including the roof, as it looks like bakes gingerbread. I did however cover the roof in some of this designed paper, which reminded me of the candy you might use to make the roofing shingles on a gingerbread house. The doors and window are colored with paint to give them their color, much as you might melt hard sugar candies or isomalt sugar to create the glass. When I finished, I sprayed the page with some white sparkle ink.

My dad was an architect, and as a kid I used to draw houses and house plans using his tools. He'd look over my design and tell me what would work and what wouldn't. My dad didn't design houses himself as he worked on a lot of public buildings like schools and medical arts structures, but he would still tell me if my house design would create a nice looking home, or not. I haven't drawn houses for a long time, and this has been fun.

I've made several gingerbread houses over the years, and you would think this year, being home, I might try my hand it another one, but somehow this month has really gotten away from me. I'll put it on next year's list and see how things are going then. Smile.

Veggies and Such

Hi everyone.  Happy weekend. 

Hope everyone's week went well. I enjoyed some cooler weather which meant long morning walks,  a few little home projects finished and of course, some fun art time too!

I am  here today with what might be my last page for Alison's Pockets and Tags challenge at Art Journal Journey. I am not sure if shall get back online with another page before Monday when the month ends, or if I won't.  If I don't, I want to say THANKS Alison for such a fun challenge this month. And thanks to all of you who read my blog and participated. You certainly sent lots of inspiration my way!

So this is a page from my garden journal that I have been working in often lately.

This is my tribute to my dream veggie garden. It didn't happen this year thanks to chipmunks and the drought we're in ( I'm not watering as we are on a well and I don't want that to run dry).  But being ever hopeful, it will happen next year. I will say my cherry tomatoes have done fabulous and there might be some more kale coming soon.

So my page began with some mini papers, some rubbed on green and yellow ink, and then some blue stamping and brushing on the same blue ink. I then added the vintage seed packets and some other paper ephemera, including a playing card-showing the backside- coming out of the corn pack-that is my pocket.  And on the top of the beet seed packet is a small round tag that I stamped and colored with a butterfly image also. And you might notice the corn variety is called Country Gentleman. It's the perfect cue for adding this country gentleman TH found relative.

I wanted to share the star of my garden this year.

I actually got grapes on my one grapevine. It is  4-5 years old (not sure exactly when I planted it), and I did plant  it on a whim to see what it would do. I had given up on grapes, but this year it really produced.

It is a Concord Grape variety, better for making jelly than eating, so the other day I did just that. I had hoped for even 1 small jar of grape jelly, but I got 4!

Now I need to make some sourdough bread so I can try it out.

And look at this weird guy who was sitting on one of my hydrangeas.

I was surprised he didn't fly off when I got close.

That's all for me today. We are suppose to have some rain today (hurrah-hurrah-we so need it). My daughter is coming home tomorrow and has another vacation day Monday. If the weather works out, we are off for the beach again. So keep your fingers crossed it will be sunny and not too chilly.
