Geometric Shapes

Hi everyone.  Happy April!
Maybe I am being an optimist, but let's hope this month brings us blue skies and less virus issues and worries. (I'm not so sure about the virus issues though.)
There is some good news. It is time for a new challenge at Art Journal Journey. Last month we had a great month of green. Thanks Eileen  for being a wonderful hostess.
And now it is time to welcome Valerie from Bastelmania as our latest hostess.
This month think about Geometric Shapes.
I went for circles on my first page. I began by stenciling the little pink solid dots. Then I stamped my new giraffe image (OK, being home means I have more time to online shop as I take little breaks from work), colored her yellow and added some brown ink around her so she would stand out. Then I used an empty tape roll and some pink paint to make a circle stamp.
I was wondering about a quote when I had this idea about loving spots. So there you go. Here is my first page for Valerie's Art Journal Journey challenge.
I can't wait to see your takes on geometric shapes.

And I also wanted to thank those of you who taught me something new yesterday. I showed a photo of my hutch, but not the rabbit kind. I had heard of the word dresser but I always pictured one  as a bigger and longer unit with big drawers. Now I know something new. I love learning something new.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Wonderful page Erika, love the colours and the giraffe against the spotty background. Yes, in England rabbits live in a hutch, but I knew the other meaning from my time in the States, where I was very surprised to be told to 'take a cup out of the hutch'. And they didn't keep rabbits! Hugs, Valerie

Gotta' love that adorable giraffe. Such a cutie. I like how you took us through the way you created this beauty. It's a great first entry and rather a good inspiration, too. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey.

Online shopping: another thing I will never do. Knowing you, you'll find mega sales and clearance items.

Forgot to mention, I also think a dresser has drawers. Usually tall and often has a mirror attached. I agree with you. It's a hutch as I have known the word.

I love this fantastic page Erika and your giraffe stamp is great, she seems to be stepping out of the the background, it looks like you had fun with the pink dots as well. Super inspiration for Valerie's new AJJ theme.
I think on line shopping is going to be normal for many of us in the coming weeks, I just hope the stores will survive.
Take care and stay safe.

Seeing all the crafty people enjoy their work is really relaxing, though I don't do it myself. Nice giraffe!

Great page Erika, I love the Giraffe stamp, it's very cute, I love all the Pink dots around too.
We always call it a dresser in England where you display pottery etc! I've had to get used to a lot of different names for items with having two American Grandsons! Wardrobe/Closet and Trousers/Pants we always have a laugh with that one!
Happy Wednesday Jan x

Love the dotty pink patterning - such a cheering colour and polka dots always make me smile - and the giraffe is magnificent - he's the PaperArtsy one, isn't he? - I can see why you were tempted! I think dressers come in lots of shapes and sizes - it's one of those all-purpose words...

A hopeful April is something I hope for :)

I was surprised to see there was some question about "hutch" as opposed to "dresser". My mother had an early American-styled hutch in pine that had a bottom section that was enclosed and a top section that was open shelving. They are perfect for dining rooms!

So glad you got to play with a new stamp ~ I too have been online shopping more this month since home bound. I figure since I had to cancel my spring break vacation I could spend more on other delights! Yes, a dresser has drawers and your item is a hutch in US terms anyway :) Blessings & keep crafting (and shopping if the budget allows!)

Love the dots. Reminds me of the Highlight Magazine page: Can you find the giraffe!

That is a magnificent giraffe! I have seen that image,or one very similar, used on someone's blog recently so I am thinking it is maybe a new issue? Somewhere in the back of my mind I think of Tim Holtz - am I right?
No worries, he is majestic standing there on your fine spotted and circled page. A great idea to welcome Valerie's new theme.
Hugs, Neet xx

Hi Erika, what a great Giraffe that is, the bright pink of those spots really show's your love for them. Isn't it amazing with all our crafty tools we have around us a simple roll of tape can mark make just as good. Super page.
Hope your keeping well during these difficult times? I've heard here in the UK we are in for a very very sunny day on Sunday, fingers crossed for some garden time! Stay Safe Tracey xx
