Hi everyone.
It Black Friday here in the US.
Usually my husband and I would meander out about 7 or 8 AM, after the crazy shoppers who go out and wait in lines during the night have done their shopping. We liked to go see if we can find any remaining bargains since by that hour the stores have really cleared out.
We are NOT going this year with Covid. however There is no bargain so important to risk getting this disease ,but I will miss our day out shopping with my husband since we always had so much fun.
The plan today we're going to go cut our Christmas tree before our daughter heads home, which she is doing later today. That should be fun to do also.
Today I have a page for day 27 of Art Everyday Month and also for Wendy's bird challenge at Art Journal Journey.
This is a page I started back in October with thoughts of Halloween. Since I never finished it, I changed it up a bit with some yellow spray ink, the bits of text paper, and some fall washi plant stickers. I also added a postage stamp I had, and I stamped the cancellation.
I decided to post it today because of the amount of black on the page and that it is Black Friday. OK, maybe not a great reason, but what the heck?
I think today we might go cut our Christmas tree while our daughter is home, depending on how ambitious we end up feeling of course. This is a pre-post so I can let you know later.
Happy start to your weekend, or if you have the long holiday one, enjoy!
Thanks for visiting.

I like this page a lot! Suits my mood!
I hope you do your tree. I was set to deck the halls today. Then I killed my back. No decking till I can move things a bit. Frustrating. I'm glad your daughter can help decorate!
I did Black Friday shopping about 20 years ago down at the Wrentham Outlets. I went with Red and we will never go again. Route 1 was backed up trying to get into the mall. We finally got in and found the last parking space all the way in Nebraska. Your page reminds me of that, the bird flying looking for a spot to land. The stores were so crowded the fire marshal was there and limiting how many people could be in the building. We finally got into Old Navy and the only sizes left were 3x in ghastly colors. Never again. I think your idea of going out to cut down your Christmas tree is a much better idea. No crowds. You'll probably find a parking space, and have a pleasant family day. And the weather couldn't be more perfect as you won't freeze to death. Have fun!
I love your page, it's very pretty, you did a wonderful background again! Have fun cutting your tree, and I'm glad you're staying safe home. Have a wonderful day, hugs, Valerie
This is so striking and beautiful. The yellow makes me smile.
I always decorate my home on Black Friday, even before it was Black. When I was in school, it was the only time I had four days to spend at home. Work and school took up my time, otherwise. And, I always spent Saturday (before it was Shop Local Saturday) making sure any papers were finished and ready to be turned in before the end of the semester. I know you have gotten some good deals in the past, but you are right. It isn't worth it. I know you'll have fun with your daughter and husband getting the perfect tree, too. Too bad her boyfriend isn't there to help get the tree loaded, etc. this year.
Your journal collaged entry is wonderful. I like how you chose this for Black Friday and I love how you carried the mushroom theme throughout the collage, too. It's a super entry for Wendy's theme at Art Journal Journey. Enjoy your day out and stay safe, dear friend.
When you have time, stop by Bleubeard's, please.
I love this page Erika! xx
A very nice art page :)
We have actually put a few Christmas decorations up today!
We thought ... why not!!!
Enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
Lovely page, Erika!
I totally agree with your thoughts on Covid not being worth the risk to go shopping. Over 264,000 Covid deaths in the US is something to be very concerned about.
I'm looking forward to seeing your Christmas tree.
Have a lovely time. xo
You made a wonderful journal page!
I didn’t play too dangerous either and I have everything and save my money. I need a new sofa next year.
Nice to get a Christmas tree out of the forest yourself .. that's really fun.
Have a nice Saturday and stay safe, hug Elke
Like you and your husband, we also stayed home on Black Friday, actually just as in previous years. We did order a couple of items online for our granddaughter’s Christmas gifts and had them sent to her home in PA. That was really easy shopping! I envy your going to cut a live tree, which we were hoping to do this year until management issued a NO lives trees as of 2020 mandate. I suspect it’s because so many people are at home this holiday. So, we did buy an un-real one and will make the best of it by lighting pine scented candles.
Howdy, Erika! I've been catching up a bit and see you are a Chik-Fil-A fan. It's like the gospel down here in Texas. Something about the breading on the chicken doesn't set right with my digestion so I'm probably the only one in the state who doesn't eat it. The waffle fries are very popular. Your bread looks and sounds delish. I enjoyed looking at and reading about your various journal pages. You are taking a biologic for hives? I should be taking one for my RA but my other A's make me too allergic. My RA has gone now to my digestive tract and at times my Rheumatoid Factor reaches 600 if I get too inflamed. Doc says I can produce my own cytokine storm so she hopes I don't get COVID. Eegads, just my 2020 luck. So I stay home 100%. xoxo
"What the heck", I like this page :-)
Your black Friday swapped over to Germany as well now.
Well, online and for real, but, no.
Just sad in your case as it was just for fun! Hope the tree hunt was a good alternative.
Another fabulous page, gorgeous background. love the script on it. Thank you, have a greta weekend.
Hugs Wendy
Lovely art piece. It's a shame that covid-19 has put an end to many fun traditions, and even just regular things.
Great eye-catching details on this wonderful page! Love the main piece especially. I wish Black Friday would go away and be a thing of the past - I don't even like the words. Lovely post. Hugz
I went Black Friday shopping once, lining up before the store opened. It was fun, and I got a big kick out of it. But I never did it again lol
Cutting your own tree sounds like fun. We've never done that.
