Hi everyone. It's the end of another week. This week flew by for me. Perhaps it did for you also. Today I am linking up to Nicole's Friday Face Off and also to Gillena's Friday Lunch Break.
The other day I planted some seeds. Not outside, it's way too early seeing many times our nighttime temperatures have still been falling below freezing. However, I do like growing my own greens of various sorts, mainly because when you buy them at the store they don't seem to last and other times you forget you need to get some so when you want them, you don't have any greens. Or at least that's how it seems to work at my house.
I started some kale and some spinach as you can see in the photo below.
I also picked up some rhubarb starters. I put them in the left planter in the photo below, and in the bag on the right I planted some carrot seeds and some beet seeds. I also planted some garlic bulbs. I read garlic needs a shot of cold before it grows so I'm not sure how those bulbs will fair unless our temperatures stay cold at night.
More to plant once the night time temperatures moderate a bit. Or once I get some more bags of soil. 😏
I was also out walking the dogs the other day when I spied this tiny coltsfoot flower getting ready to bloom along the side of the road. There were actually a few of them budding in this area. I didn't know they bloomed so early, even before my crocus's bloom in the yard.
And I need a face or 2 for Friday Face Off. Yesterday some friends and I got together to watch a movie. Instead of going to the theater, we went to a friend's house to watch it on Netflix. Plus we had Lebanese take out food for lunch. Yum!
This was the movie we thought we were going to watch.
However, we quickly found out that this movie is not yet released and can only be seen in theaters. Oh no. 😕 Instead we decided since we were together we might as well watch something else, so sticking with school theme, we watched this film.
That and I found out I have been reading the wrong book for my book club. 😕 That's my own fault as I had the title right but somehow had the wrong author.
So with that, I will leave you. Have a super start to your weekend!

Colt’s Foot has been blooming in the woodlands here for a couple of weeks. It is such a hardy little plant and a bright burst of colour in the drabness left by winter. I was out walking yesterday on a rare bright day, and searched diligently for signs of spring ephemerals coming out of the ground, but I found not a trace. Soon they will show, I hope. In the meantime it looks like you have a good start on your garden. All the best - David
...it's time to get dirt under the nails!
You are going to have a busy spring, ain't you? The only thing I still grow is cat grass :-)
Happy gardening.
Happy you linked to AFFF #152
Much♡love
Good luck with the gardening! And I hope the 'wrong' book turned out to be good.
I bought lettuce and spinach seeds yesterday (and basil, but not ready for that.) I haven't seen the holdovers and would like to, also the penguin movie!
I feel that every week speeds by...
Your garden is off to a good start, Erika. I always thought you plant garlic in the fall or late summer so that you have fresh garlic in the spring or early summer. Maybe this is the rule for our area, I'm not sure. I planted some seeds as well and also indoors since even here the nights are still too cold. In two or three weeks I will plant tomatoes - I don't grow them from seed, but buy seedlings at the farmers market. So far, I have never been particularly good with growing from seed, so we will see how this year will work out. Have a good weekend. Hugs - Carola

Looks like you have a nice planting system set up there! My husband likes to plant tomatoes, so I think that's what going on, but later as it's still dipping below freezing here too. Next week it's supposed to level off though. Fun post today! Have a great weekend!
Spring is a wonderful time of year.
Beautiful post
Good luck with the greens. I've never seen colts foot. It looks pretty. I hope you are enjoying the sunshine today.
Kale and spinach, YUM! Here still waiting with planting. Hmmmm... Lebanese food!
Sorry, you read the wrong book? "LOL". I hope it was fun anyways and you had a great day, hugs!
I watched "The Holdovers" too and found the ending heartbreakingly sad.
I love planting seeds anticipating the harvest.

I really love starting my garden indoors. Most of it is out in the garden now but There are a few things still on the plant table. Can't wait to see your seeds grow. I will look for these movies. Thank you for joining FFO and have a wonderful weekend.
It won't be long till I put my herbs out I overwintered in the house. I'm better with herbs than veggies. I hope you get a bumper crop.
I saw that new movie poster and thought of tRump charging Antarctic Heard and McDonald Islands 10% tariffs. They are populated by penguins and seals.
I diligently planted the seeds and the little flower is growing through them. I find it much better to watch a movie with friends; it's just more comfortable! Have a happy weekend, hugs, Elke
I hope all your seeds and bulbs grow and produce well for you.
I enjoyed that movie too… I think everyone is looking forward to the new growing season.

I agree with you about watching a film a second time.
The weeks go by so quickly ...
I do enjoy the Spring and here in the UK we have had some lovely sunny days ... good for gardening!
You have made a good start with yours.
Enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
Spring is such a fabulous time to start all the plantings!
I love rhubarb.
Now, I will be on the lookout for that film, if it is ever released in Netflix because it has penguin in the title😀. As for the film you did watch, I have also seen it but agree with your comment that watching a film again shows things missed on the first viewing.
