Beautiful Moments

Hi everyone. Happy Wednesday. We're having more fantastic weather this week, so once again I am back outside working in the yard.

Today I want to share another journal page for my Spring Birds challenge at Art Journal Journey

You can barely see that I made this page in my ledger journal. The background is inked in blue and pink, and then I added a large die cut pink square.  I also added some scraps from a book in Greek, which I have no idea what it says. Hopefully it is  about something nice and not about a bloody war-grin. Mia may be able to tell me if she can even make it out with the inks rubbed over it. 😏

The bird's nest image is die cut and colored, and I also added the 2 die cut flower images. Then to finish I stamped the quote and used a white Posca paint pen to add lots of dots. I'm a little worried those dots look like snow, but maybe that's because it wasn't all that long ago it snowed too many days at my house.

Over Easter my daughter came for the day. We had a lovely day. One thing we did was go for an entire family walk along the road where my mother-in-law's house is located.

And look at this tree along the driveway (at my mother-in-law's house) that I've never noticed before. It has so many holes in it. I wonder if anything is or will be nesting in any of those holes.

I wonder why it took me so long to notice it. Maybe because there's no leaves on the trees (in the woods where this holey tree is standing) around it yet so the sunlight hitting it just made it stand out more.

And let me leave you with the cake I made for Easter.

It's a vintage style pineapple upside down cake with some chopped pecans on top too. It was tasty, but if and when I ever make another one I am going to cover the top with crushed or chunked pineapple so there will be pineapple in every bite. 😏

Have a super middle of your week.

Keep your eye on that tree. There’s food and home aplenty there. Who knows what you might see? All the best - David

I really like this latest entry and the "Collect beautiful moments" sentiment. It's another great page for your theme at AJJ.

I wonder if those are old woodpecker holes in that tree.

Love the vintage pineapple upside down cake. For some reason, the beauty of the pineapple rounds far outweigh using chunks or crushed. Food should begin at the visual level and there is just something about the old style rounds that make it memorable.

Beautiful and bright journal page. The holes in the tree are certainly very curious. I wonder what you will find there. I haven't had an pineapple upside down cake for ages. Delicious!

Good to see you have spring there-I switched to crushed pineapple for upside down cakes too-easier to cut into servings-but your cake is beautiful enjoy your spring weather hugs

That cake is delicious. I last baked one like this ages ago! It looks like there's something in this tree, or something was! Your journal page is so beautiful, so romantically designed!
You feel different when the sun shines!
Have a good day, hugs Elke

A. fabulous colourful page. Love the holes in the tree, very curious as to its past and present occupants. The cake looks yummy, haven't made one of those for more years than I care to remember.

The tree was certainly interesting, Erika and sadly it is most likely doom if not already. The cake looked delicious, especially with the pecan topping 😋

Well, the tree fascinated me so that was going to be my first comment but then the cake got to me and my sweet tooth took over my brain and I just had to mention it. Looks so yummy!
But back to the tree. I am sure there must be families of fairies living inside that tree. And maybe they have somehow disguised the holes in the past when you have walked by it with their magic. (Lavinia is taking over my brain I think)
Love your picture in your journal - I thought that the flowers reminded me of dandelions when they have turned to fluffy seeds and the white bits are the seeds making their way across the page to spread and nourish the ground they fall upon.
I do like your tiny blue bird and her chicks all ready and waiting for mama bird to feed them.
The colour of your background is gorgeous, I do like pinks and purples together. They always remind me of whinberry pie with cream on (I used to pick them with dad when I was young and we walked on the hillside besides our home - a bit like your blueberries).
Hugs, Neet xx

What a stunning page Erika! I so love the colors and shapes on this one! The birds in nest are always great in the Spring to see! Looks like so many outdoor things happening! So fun!

I like the pink blue and white on your page, almost purpley, lol. And that cake looks delish but you're right, crushed on top is best. Like a pineapple compote or jam. You can add the slices for garnish. At least that is how I've eaten it. And without the pecans as I'm allergic, walnuts for me. :-) Hope you're really in Spring now! xoxo
