Last Saturday's Rally

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. We're in this grey weather period with only a couple of sunny days lately. My area needs some sun so the outside  will start to green up a bit more as right now it's really drab. Plus it's making me really drab, or drabber than I already am-grin, ha ha 😏😁😉.

I'm here today to join Nicole for Friday Face Off and Gillena for Friday Lunch Break Last Saturday was a Day of Protests in many places in the US, and I think in many places around the world too. A friend and I went to the protest in Portsmouth (New Hampshire), and it was quite a lively scene.

I know many of you who attended rallies have already shown photos, and as usual I'm a few days behind everyone.  I wanted to save my photos for Friday because there were lots of good signs and some of them had some great faces for Friday Face Off, starting with this large orange voodoo doll.

The protest wasn't quite over when we left because our feet and hands were going numb as it was a cold and wet day, but my friend who was driving suggested we drive down the street through the crowds so we could see how big the rally actually was.  As we went through we beeped the horn and waved and the crowd was quite appreciative of that too. In some people's posts this past week it looked as if the crowds were walking, but the one I attended was  along the sides of a busy main street.

These next few photos give you an idea of the crowd size at just one end of the street. Seeing this is only about 1/4 of the distance where there were crowds, you can make a pretty good estimate of how many people were there.

Even though most folks have already shared their rally photos, it's good to remember what happened last weekend. That's all for me. Have a great weekend ahead.

Thanks for sharing the picture, Erika. It is encouraging to see people rising up like this, doing it creatively too! I hope that the protests will continue and increase in strength and frequency. Whether things will change in Washington is another matter entirely. It’s hard to imagine that it’s not yet even three months into four long years of oligarchy and despotism. Congratulations to everyone who took part. All the best - David

...I love, "real eyes realize real lies!" Could I use "Make the Asshole Go Away?"

Some really creative signs! Great that it's a peaceful demonstration.

You had a great rally, Erika, and I'm glad they are a bit later than some postings just to spread it out and keep up the reminder. I loved the signs. Great photos. And we are supposed to have sun today (I'll believe it when I see it but the sky is looking a little more blue than usual.) Hopefully it will make its way east by tomorrow!

Great photos! Some of those signs were so clever. Did you get snow this morning? We did! 🤬

You certainly told the story just in imagery alone, Erika.

The voodoo doll is my favorite!!! You showed some very cool signs here and your protest had avery good turnout. I think during our protest the march happened spontaneously - we first were all on the sidewalks lining the streets and then suddenly people started moving. I hope we'll keep these protests up and a wel organized protest movement will come to life. This country urgently needs it.
Have a lovely weekend, Erika, hopefully with friendlier weather. Hugs - Carola

I came back to ask if you received my e-mail and saw my comment I left this morning is not here. I'll repeat as best I remember. Ours started on the courthouse steps with speeches, then a march. You found some awesome signs. One of my favs no one has mentioned is "Didn't we fight this battle in 1776?" Of all the signs, I didn't see a single one mentioning Hands Off PBS, one of the things I worry will be cut. Thanks for sharing. And don't forget to check your e-mail.

Those are great signs and an excellent turnout! I love seeing the people out there and their creativity.

I hope you get weather more to your liking soon. I wish I could have traded this past week--you would've loved the weather we had and I would've loved yours :-) Have a lovely weekend!

Sounds like you had quite the experience at the rally! It's always inspiring to see people come together for a cause, especially when it's such a lively scene.
