Faces for Friday

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. And happy start of summer to you. I hope your week is going well. Mine has been busy, but it's been for good busy things. However I'm excited for the weekend because maybe I won't have to leave the house before 7 or 8 in the morning as I have done all 5 days this week. 😏

Today I  have lots of faces to share for Nicole's  Friday Face Off and also Gillena's Friday Lunch Break. I haven't had much time to write a post, so today I have some captioned photos with some summer critters. I'll start with some creepy crawlies, specifically first some amphibians.

This toad lives out by the water faucet where our house is hooked up.

This is the first time I've ever come across a red backed salamander.
Then we'll move onto Athropods.
And shortly after that I came across this American Giant millipede. They have so many legs. πŸ˜‰

And at work at the lake one morning, I also saw these 2 Canadian Tiger Swallowtails.

I'm not sure what type of spider this is.

And this is some type of insect larva, but I'm also not sure about what type of larva.

The other day I saw this red spotted purple butterfly  drinking at a puddle in my yard,

And at my mother-in-law's house I almost stepped on his big old insect. I think it's called a dragon hunter, but I'm not 100% positive about that either.

If you've had enough of amphibians and arthropods, I snapped this great photo of my 2 pups the other day.

And this selfie of myself at work the other morning came out pretty good too.

I hope everyone has a great weekend ahead.

A great wildlife post, Erika, with very pleasing diversity. The parotid glands on the toad are really visible. It must be so pleasant to have this fellow hanging around in your garden. A toad and a family of bluebirds is more than anyone might expect! All the best - David

Well some of the faces were not as pleasant as others, Erika, it was nice to see your friendly pups and yoursπŸ˜€.

Mr. Pete and Maddie are the stars here :-) I don't like any spider, or bugs and that American giant millipede looks so scary...

...except for some small whites that are everywhere, I haven't seen a butterfly this year.

We're in for a 90s-100 degree week and of course now I'm back from the lake for appointments till Thursday! Great photos but my faves are you and the dogs!

Dear Erika,
what a wonderful collection of critters you've shared – do all of them really crawl, hop, and fly through your garden? πŸžπŸ¦‹πŸ¦Ž Fascinating – and some of them, like the butterflies and the salamander, are even quite pretty! But of course I know that even the less "beautiful" ones have their place in the big web of life.
Your two good boys, however, invite cuddles far more than bugs do – please give them a few loving pats from me! πŸΆπŸ’›
Oh, and your selfie is truly lovely – but "at work"? You look more like you're relaxing in a cheerfully colorful director’s chair! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‡πŸ˜Ž
All the best from Austria & happy weekend!

You, Maddie, and Pete are my favorites, along with the butterflies. I'll leave the creepy crawlers alone.

Must say i do prefer the photo of the dogs to any of the others, except the butterflies of course. We have had hardly any butterflies in our garden this year so far.. Yesterday we went for a walk at a beauty spot and was surprised at the number of butterflies we saw. All the same, tiny white ones in a meadow full of flowers and they just floated around and around enjoying themselves. It was wonderful.
Hugs, Neet xx
