The Specks and Splatters

Hi everyone. Happy weekend to you. We finally had a sunny Saturday with no rain. It was the first time since back in March.  And it was a lovely Saturday to enjoy before the heat returns today. In fact, it was so lovely that the hubby and I went strawberry picking first thing in the morning. We  arrived at the farm just a few minutes after it opened at seven. Ha ha. And I had hoped for a morning to be lazy at home. 😏

I think other people felt the same way about a sunny Saturday morning.

My roses are blooming and are looking pretty nice right now too. Some of the plants are still recovering from being moved earlier this spring (when I enlarged the area and spread out the plants), but I'm happy to see that all the plants are blooming even a  flower or two, and they are all getting some new growth. I decided to spread them out since the area up against the house was pretty squished, and some of the plants weren't able to grow to their full potential.  Hopefully they will get some good growth this season. 👍

I also have this page for Matilde's People challenge at Art Journal Journey. It started with the center sticker which appears to be vintage science oriented. Of course much of science that long ago focused on the stars and mathematics. I decided to use that as a guide and make my page about this astronomer or maybe he's an early astro-physicist. I think he's studying something about hydrogen and stars which is why there are so many circled letter H's.   He's having his photo taken in the garden for his latest publication, which is why he is sitting on that blue trim piece. and all the dots could be all the stars in the heavens or they could be some arrangement of atoms.

Or maybe this is just my interpretation. 😉

Have a super rest of your weekend and start to the new week.

The best reason to get up early in the morning -to go birding. The next best reason - to pick strawberries. Sometimes you can even combine the two. One of the most memorable times for me was in England with a family I was staying with. The strawberries were fat, ripe and juicy and in the little stream that ran alongside the property were Moorhens and a pair of Mandarin Ducks. Now, that’s a good start to the day! All the best - David

Strawberries are not only the nicest fruit to serve for dessert, but they are the easiest to present. One juicy passionfruit squeezed onto the berries, and fruit yoghurt to pour on top. Lend me your husband :)

...Erika, you are industrious. I buy my strawberries picked and roses are too much work for me!

Those strawberries look beautiful. Your rose garden is so pretty. Hopefully, the roses will have lots of room to stretch out. The astronomy page is very cool. I like the blue and brown combo. Want to freak the professor out? I saw a Peanuts meme that had Linus or Charlie Brown wondering if the stars were just holes in a large box to let in air so we can breathe. 🤣. I hope your rain clears up. The sun is out now and the wind has picked up, too. Nice to open the windows before the humidity comes back.

It's not that I'm too lazy to pick strawberries but it's just too darned hot! And I can't find "real" strawberries at a stand or market to save my soul. They look great!

Fresh strawberries, yum! We just finished picking 18 cups of cherries from my MIL trees! Wonderful page you've made too! I love the texture you've achieve in the background with the chap sitting comfy on your strip!

Doesn't feel good to have some sunshine after all that rain. I'm waiting for the same. Nice place to pick strawberries. Your yard looks fabulous as does your art. Have a nice Sunday.

Good thing you went berry picking over the weekend, Erika, when it was a little cooler than the start of this week. They do look delicious and are you planning to make a jelly or jam? The roses look pretty too, but I prefer the edible fruit!

The home-picked strawberries are delicious, and your garden with the beautiful roses looks great.
I find your astronomy page interesting; the way you designed it is a fantastic idea.
Good week , hugs Elke

I like your man of science sitting in his garden, and his pose. And also your beautiful roses. Those strawberries! I was getting that volume from mine last year but this year they have been very poor, a handful at best. Have a great day!

I love your interpretation of your journal page and it is a wonderful background for your man. Obviously your love and knowledge of science has contributed to how you built up this page.
Love your strawberry picking trip with hubby - not sure whether the third photo is how many you picked but I'd love to know, if it is, just what you did with so many.
Hugs, Neet xx
ps love the owl stones in the garden
