Happy Halloween

     Hi everyone. Happy Halloween to you. It's going to be very warm this year for Halloween; it's even quite warm comparably this morning. Makes me want it to be spring-grin.  And have you heard of Trunk or Treat? That was a new one for me. If you haven't heard of it, it's where a public place is picked, people go and park their cars there, and then kids walk around the cars and trick or treat out of the trunks.

   Today my post is a collection of photos to celebrate Halloween. I will also be linking this post up to tomorrow's Friday Face Off over at Nicole's website,  Gillena's Friday Lunch Break, and to Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's Second on the Second which goes live on Saturday.  I guess you could say it's a bit of a hodgepodge post. 😏

     But first of all, let me show this fantastic Halloween card I received from Elle in Scotland.

      I love the fuzzy die cuts. Very very cool Elle. And I know some of you like to see stamps, so I included them on the right side of the card.

       These next 4 photos are related to last Friday's post (Fairy Houses) when I shared some of the fairy houses under construction at my local botanical garden (Bedrock Gardens in Lee, New Hampshire). These photos are not fairy houses, but some large fairies as well as the moon. These fairies are also some clever tree decorations and faces too.

     And then, to celebrate this spooky day some more, I have some second looks from the last 3 years. Here's a few pieces of Halloween art that I created.  This year's new Halloween art is something I can't share yet, so you'll have to make do with some second views.

The Rest of My Halloween Book

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. It's already the last Friday in October , but  in some ways I'm also thinking it can't possibly still be October. Grin.Right now we are having some beautiful weather. I think because fall weather seemed to have arrived a bit late this year so we still have a lot of color, and even a bit of green, for late October. Plus, no frost at my house yet, although some places in New Hampshire just had frost the other night. That's thrown me off, but I shouldn't talk because chilly temperatures are due to arrive Sunday.😏

It's time for Nicole's  Friday Face Off  and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break .

Today I am going to share the rest of the pages in my Halloween Bingo book. You'll notice it has  lots of faces in it.  But first, since some of you mentioned you wanted to see how my book is bound, let me show you that.

This first photo shows the bound edge. I used some fairly wide ribbon and lots of red line tape to bind it. The ribbon is folded in an accordian style; taped to hold the 2 sides together, and then attached to each page .

Above, you can see that I folded the ribbon together and then used some red-line tape on the inside to create a tab. 

In this  photo, you can  see an already made tab.  It has the red line tape on the outside of it. The red line tape side that you can see will be stuck onto the next page of the book I am inserting. I am working from front to back, adding  each page one at a time.

The binding isn't tight, meaning the pages can wiggle up and down a bit. It still works nicely holding the book together. Probably the only thing I would change if I ever bind a book this way again is that I would stitch the tab folds rather than using red line tape. 

And if you're not familiar with red line tape, it is a  double sided tape that comes in various widths, including the 1/4 inch width I used. A good red line tape is super sticky and is a great way to connect fabric  since it doesn't leave globby marks that glue as it soaks through the fabric would.

The left hand page has the binding attached to it, and the right side page is bound on the opposite side.

The skeleton head sticker was the perfect size to cover the actual face in this last page on this above page.

More Halloween

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. I hope you've had a lovely week since we've all last joined Nicole for her  Friday Face Off  and Gillena for her  Friday Lunch Break.

Since today is Friday the 13th, if you're superstitious, don't walk under any ladders or let a black cat cross your path. GRIN. 😏  

Today I have some more Halloween art to share. You might remember how last week I showed you some pages made on bingo cards. They weren't yet bound. Today my photos are an assortment of pages before I bound them and then a couple after  I used a long piece of ribbon to create a binding. I'm still finishing pages and binding them, so this book  is not yet complete.

My pages have LOTS of assorted faces too. 

This next photo is a bit crooked because the page is covered with an acetate image,  and that image created quite a glare in the light when I photographed it.

And here's a page with some gears that I will also be linking to Neet's In Gear challenge at Art Journal Journey. It's not a great photo because I didn't notice the scrap of white paper hanging out from under the bottom edge when I took my pictures.

To finish my post, let me show you how I decided to bind these cards together. Here's my uncompleted cover page. I used this postcard and backed it up with  a bingo card. In between the two I added some of this long black and white striped ribbon that you can see off to the left. 

I like this ribbon because it repeats the words Night Time, which of course is what Halloween is...All Hallows Eve.

Years ago there was a store near my Mother's house that sold discounted fabric trim. Everything was marked down, and the longer it sat on the shelf, the cheaper it became. I used to like to go there and see what I could find, and over time I managed to build a little collection. Besides this trim working well for binding my book, it is also good to actually use up  some of my stash.

And in my final page for this post, you can not only see the page, but you can see the ribbon on the left hand side of the bingo card. That ribbon is what holds/binds my book together. It's not a rigid binding, but it does hold the pages really well.

More Halloween Bingo Pages

Hi everyone. Happy almost weekend to you. 

Once again I'm posting  some more pages from the bingo card Halloween book I am making.  I am  just a bit out of season 😏 since it is not yet late October.  Grin.  You might remember I shared some other  pages  a few Fridays ago. 

I'm making pages on some bingo cards and then I'll bind them together into a book. I have a couple of ideas how I want to bind them, but  I haven't definitely decided which one I'll pick yet.

I am linking  these up to Nicole's Friday Face Off  and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break .

I like the size of these Bingo cards. They are 4x6 inches (approximately 10 x 15.5 cm), which makes them  not too big nor too small to work on. For this first page I covered one side of the card with some printed paper, and then I added this silver netting fabric trim. I found a roll of this fabric  trim on markdown earlier this year, and I thought it would be versatile for lots of effects.  I think it looks a bit like some chain link  fence in this piece.

And I think I should have decorated this piece more for Christmas because am I wrong or does that guy have pointed elf ears? 😀

This silly skeleton head is also on a printed  paper background. I also  used a die cut net, added some  googly eyes, a metallic paper crown and some stickers. The quote says dead quiet, but I've never known crows to be dead quiet.

On these next two cards I used the bingo side. I am covering both sides of my cards, so when you flip through the book there won't be blank pages.  There is some stenciling and some inking on both of these next pieces.  This first one has this great moon image, and a small gold witch as well as some sparkle leaves.

This die cut tree  is pretty funny too.  The sparkles make him look like he is foaming at the mouth. 

It also has some purple and orange on it, so I am linking up to  More Than Words challenge blog where the theme this month is Purple and Orange. 

Here is one more page with a lot of purple and orange as well as some more faces too.

This one's background is made with assorted paint, and I added a skeleton sticker, some vintage cut out images, a wooden tombstone, some confetti cats and some other bits and pieces.

Early Halloween Art

Hi everyone. Happy middle of September to you. This week sure flew by; even though I was busy it's not like I was that busy. Smile.  And since today is Friday  I am posting for Nicole's  Friday Face Off  and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break .

Last week I pulled out my box of Halloween craft supplies out of the attic.  It's a pretty big box because I have years worth of ephemera and some rubber stamps in it. I really need to use some of that ephemera so I can put a smaller box in the attic-grin. I am not a spooky or creepy person, but I love making Halloween inspired art. I think it's my chance to let my inner spooky, creepy person come out.😈 Plus, it is really  just fun to play.

 I have a stack of bingo cards that are made out of light cardboard. They came in a home bingo game my daughter had when she was little, and being a craft supply pack rat, I saved them when she was done with the game. Time to use at least some of them. Smile.

I decided I'd make a Halloween journal using the cards as my base.  I haven't bound them together yet because this way I can work on many cards at once (since in a bound journal if the pages are wet  you can't easily work on other pages).   These all have various faces, so let me share a few today.

Yes those set of boys are the same, only one image is actually bigger than the other. And I also know that the "bug" in the spider web is not a spider.  But maybe I need to add a spider.

And since there are a couple of mini black cats on the first page and also the third page features a bigger black cat image, I am also linking up to Elle's Books, Cat and Tea challenge at Art Journal Journey.

That's all for me.  We're still on the hurricane watch here. Actually more like the effects of the hurricane here since as of this morning when I post, I think Lee has moved further East into the Atlantic and will not be hitting us directly in NH.
