It's a Man's World

Happy Tuesday everyone. It is time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday.
Aren't you excited?  I am. Our newest challenge is
It's a Man's World.
Think of Father's Day or any guy inspired art.
I made a journal page. I was inspired by an upcoming adventure when I made this one.
I began by washing my page with some very watered down brown acrylic paint, Then I added some scraps of brain paper and a bit of burlap.  I did stain my brown paper with some brown ink and a bit of matte medium with some brown paint in it. Then I added this cowboy photo which came from a catalogue I received in the mail. I also added some copper tape . I stamped some Pony Express postmarks and a bit of a western trim stamp. Then I die cut the cowboy and the frame. After adding those I also added the stars and a couple of rusted embellishment. Lastly I stamped the word cowboy and used  black pen to put in some faux stitching.
I hope to see your masculine art over at Try It On Tuesday.
Thanks for visiting.

Happy Sunday

Hi everyone.

Today I have another link up for Wendy's challenge "HAVE FUN" over at Art Journal Journey.
The photo came in a Yetti Cooler "magazine" that arrived in the mail, (the several page ad showed all kinds of cool things you might want a Yetti cooler for) so rather than just tossing it out when I was done looking at it, I recycled it . This is one page out of many that I have used.
I added some die cuts which were in brown or black paper and that I then used a bit of the opposite colored ink pad on. I added a couple of threads pulled off of a piece of burlap (which are actually in the Dina Wakely journal I am using), which were snipped and crossed. Then I added these little metal screw heads and stamped the quote. Finally I added a piece of ribbon down the right hand side.

I will say though this isn't something I do, but it was the perfect photo for my Western Journal.
I have literally only ridden a horse once, and that was when I went to Costa Rica 6 years ago on a Cultural Exchange program through school, but it was my favorite part of the trip.  Maybe one of these years I will splurge and take riding lessons. It would be a great retirement thing to do.

Anyhow, that is all for me today.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Annie Get Your Gun

Happy Friday everyone. The work week is almost over and the weekend is almost here. Yesterday he weather warmed up and the morning's snow melted away. We're still white, but at least there is a little less on white out there.
Moo Mania's newest theme is women, and I had made this western style page in my journal awhile back. (Ignore the top left corner that I couldn't flatten out no matter how many books I put on top of it.) I think there's something fascinating about cowgirls, though I am sure the reality of the time is not  glamorous at all.
I added a little bit of lace and cloth trim since we are talking about girls. The saloon is a die cut and the other images are stamps some oldies from Acey Deucy, Oxford Impressions and also Artistic Outpost. I don't know what company made the stamped image at the top of the page.
Wishing everyone a happy weekend!
