My Little Faces Journal Continued and Completed

Hi everyone.  It's the last Thursday of January. Can you believe it?

There's still some time to join us at Art Journal Journey before the month ends next Monday. You probably know the challenge is Let's Face It, hosted by me. I am linking today's pages up to Art Journal Journey.

Today's art is some more pages from my little expressions journal. You might remember I said that I decided to use only playful more cartoon like faces on these little 4x4  inch pages. All white pages are colored with watercolor paints first.

In this first piece, she's the girl who's always there, every time you turn around. Maybe she's even the waitress at your favorite local breakfast spot.

I hope this girl in the page above isn't worried about something too big. She might need a copy of a self help guide like Don't Sweat the Small Stuff (if that's still even published).

This girl in the above page looks so sad, holding her heart in her hands. I don't know who disappointed her, but hopefully she will be over it soon.

And this girl is  the total opposite of the broken hearted one above. She is going crazy! She is having a wild night on the town, pre-covid of course.

And here's a couple of pages on a black background, starting with this witch who can't believe she has pink skin.

Of course we must celebrate the true heroes of this pandemic. They may not be movie stars, but they should be for all they have been through and all they do for us.

And last for today, the girl who's eyes are bigger than her stomach.

If you missed my earlier pages and are curious, you can find them  at these 2 links:

I hope this week is treating you well. Thanks so much for visiting. It is always appreciated.

More Little Faces Journal

Hi everyone. It's just about the weekend-again. Hope your week has been going well.

Today I am want to share a few more faces from my little face journal with you. If you missed part 1 and are curious, here's a link to it: Little Faces Part 1.

I am also linking up the latest challenge at Art Journal Journey, which happens to be Let's Face It.

As mentioned in my Wednesday post, these pages are 4x4 inches in size. The white watercolor pages all began by being colored with some watercolor paints.

Here's my cover page. I painted the black paper in a messy way to give it a bit of texture.

I also added this chipboard snow flake and some  tiny white plastic gemstones.

In the above photo, my light blue marker (from the glasses and her bow) look white here, but rest assured they are light blue.  I used some assorted acrylic bits and pieces to finish off the page. I thought that maybe she was dreaming of a warm beach on a cold January day.

I used a Janet Klein image of Salvador Dali. I don't know if he was a diva or not, but in my piece he is, and he is standing behind a very un-Dali like picket fence.

She doesn't look very dressed for snow, does she? But with that golden blonde hair and her  outfit she looks like wants to be cute more than she wants to be warm. At least she is wearing a hat!

These twins are also Janet Klein images. They are supposed to be Twiddle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum from Alice and Wonderland. I turned them into just 2 rambunctious boys with glasses and with lots of their toy balls bouncing around the background.

And here's a couple of pages with black backgrounds.

And finally for my last page today, I used a head from my funky fossil set twice, but gave her two different bodies. I like to think she is looking in the mirror at the store after having tried on each outfit.

That's all for me today.

Have a great start to your weekend. Enjoy.

Little Faces Journal

 Hi everyone.

Today I have some art to share with your for my Let's Face It challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Months ago I received a "free" little disc bound journal when I placed an order on Joggles.com. This journal had been sitting in a pile on my work table waiting to be used. It is small (only 4 inches by 4 inches), and I'm still not sure about how well these disc bound journals actually stay held together. With the new year I want some new challenges so I decided to give it a try.

One thing I decided  before I started (this project) was that I was going to use only "cute and playful" face images in it (like those fun Janet Klein stamps). I was also not going to use  quotes, but only a word or phrase that the face represented to me.

Most of the pages that came in this mini-journal are made of white watercolor paper, but a few are black watercolor paper. I started with the ones that were white and watercolored the background. Then I added the images, and on many, a few other bits and pieces to give the page more depth and texture.

Here's a few today, and I'll share more another time.

I thought the background on this first one looked like a forest, so I added this man's image. I drew in the design on the sweater body, the  jeans and also his arms. I added the owl and a few green little foamy dots for some texture on my page. I don't know what stained his face so that my marker wouldn't color over it. Perhaps it is a scar from a run in with a wild animal or perhaps he is sad that nature is being so overrun by people and their development.

I stuck with an owl in this next little page (above) too.

I must say I love this page on black paper (above). I don't know what she is cheering about, but I want to cheer about it too. I stamped an image with white ink on the background and after I added the cheerleader, I used a paint pen to create lots of dots.

This next page has an image from Janet Klein. It is her cartoon image of Bud Abbott from the Abbott and Costello duo. I kept him as a comedian, as that is what he did best. I did add scraps of tissue paper and some dimensional "dots" and stars around him.

And the little devil in the  page below made me think she wanted her own way.

Here is another  page with a black background.  Besides my partial girl, I used  green tissue paper, rubbed on gold paint, as well as this acetate cat image that was in my stash.

And finally, one more page for today.

On the background, I stenciled in the black squares and rectangles. I also doodled the heart and dots with paint pens. Then I added a few bits of Japanese text. This lady looks well put together as well as being relaxed and calm.  I wondered if she wasn't a well seasoned traveler she might be a librarian.

I'll share more on Friday.

It's the middle of the week once again. I hope your week is going well.
And as always, thanks for visiting.
