More from the Wright Museum and a Tag

Happy Thursday everyone. I'll start my post today with a tag for Tag Tuesday and the latest Trees challenge.
My tag is made with lots of ink and a few stamps. I also added this wooden leaf I had in my stash.

And I also have a few more photos from my visit to the Wright Museum of World War II.
I wish shoes were still this inexpensive.  But I also might be in trouble because it is always fun to go shoe shopping.
I actually want to try this cake recipe.  It might be one way I can actually go back in time other than viewing all the displays in the museum.

I never heard of Victory Gardens (other than I think there used to be a PBS TV called that here in the US). One thing I learned in the museum is how much of American life became centered on the war.  Including keeping a garden.

My mother used to talk about the black out paper and shades that they used to have to put up on their windows.  I found that really a fascinating idea when I was a kid. I can't image people doing that now. But I guess if we had to, we would.

Hope you enjoyed the photos.
And thanks so much for stopping by to visit my blog.

Love your tag and the wood leaf. We're going leaf peeping this weekend. You can't have too many shoes! At that price, I'd buy out the stores. One of the things a friend and I did when we were in our 20s was drive up to Maine and hit the shoe outlets between York and Wells Beach. I remember hearing about victory gardens, a way for families to help the war effort and grow their own food. I wonder what people in the cities did like my parents. They never really talked about the War years. Or if they did maybe I didn't pay that much attention. This is such a fascinating museum. Enjoy your day!

Love that gorgeous tag. I have a bag full of little wooden leaves and can't find them! Perhaps next autumn? The prices back when were a lot different. I grew up with recipes made with war recipes, the rationing went on in England till 1953. Thanks for joining us at Tag Tuesday. Hugs, Valerie

Gosh Erika, I wish I had some of that black out paper for my office. When the sun hits in the afternoon, my fishbowl office turns into a sauna. Blackout paper would do wonders to reflect the light.

I was also fascinated by these displays. I really enjoyed the items you shared and displays you photographed. I hope you share more over time. I took a mere 769 photos of my Smithsonian Day visit, so I hope you took at least half that many. I'm LOVING this museum you went to.

Thus was a timely post, Erika, as my husband just recently mentioned the WWII museum in NH and when our friends were visiting NH from Oregon we had talked about going there, but it was too late that afternoon. I enjoyed seeing the ad from a shoe store that used to be in Nashua...what bargains. And, I did know about the Victory Gardens and it would be interesting to see the exhibits. So now we definitely have a future road trip. Glad you enjoyed my post on our recent visit to Castle in the Clouds which we did share with our friends.

Another interesting post Erika and a fantastic tag.
The war years could teach us a lot about how we use our food, we sure would be less wasteful and eat seasonal fresh foods, I remember my grandparents large garden without grass when I was small, Every part of it was used for growing food as rationing went on here for a long time, but this was how they were used to obtaining fresh food back then. No supermarkets or shops to pop into to shop.
