September is Here!

Hi there everyone. Can you believe August is over and it is now September?  We've had some crisp nights lately and here in New Hampshire it is starting to feel like fall, at least in the evening and first thing in the morning.
The height of summer might be starting to wind down, but maybe that means there will be more art time.
Since it is a new month,  it is time for a new challenge at Art Journal Journey  Susi and Elizabeth asked me to host again, so here I am, back for another month of fun.
I really liked Gill's EYES challenge last month and I hope you enjoy my new challenge as much.
And huge thanks to Susi and Elizabeth for asking me back too. I'm excited to host another challenge and see how you amazing artists interpret it.
This month my challenge is Polka-dots, Stripes, Plaid or Pattern. That's a lot of words so you can call it PSPP. Somehow in your art you should use one or more of these design types.
For my first page this month I painted and used a white pen to create a rough plaid.  I also used a bit or orange and blue spray ink to color the background. Then I used some matte medium to to attach a bit of newsprint tissue paper. Once dry I stamped this cool poppy and hexagon borer image.  I painted the poppy. I also added some of these washi butterfly stickers and stamped the quote.
At the bottom of my page I made some blue sparkle paper fringe, and after attaching that I added some 2 tone ric-rac trim to finish off the page.
I can't wait to see all the fun takes on this challenge.
I also hope to see you there!

What an absolutely incredible show stopping example of your theme for September at Art Journal Journey, dear Erika. I really like how you actually designed your paper. I fear I took the easy way, while you made your own designs. This is absolutely STUNNING and a great front page for us at AJJ. We're super glad to have you back hosting, too.

Gorgeous journal page, have fun playing with patterns and plaids this month. It's cooler here, too, so I'm hoping it's a good sign after it was so hot yesterday, which led to big storms in the evening and night! Have a great September, hugs, Valerie

Your art journal page is beautiful. I like all of the details and the colors you used. The CT nights and early mornings are starting to feel like Fall, too. It has been heavenly for sleeping at night with the windows open. Spring and Fall are my favorite times of year.

Happy September! I really love this piece. It pushes all my aqua/turquoise buttons!

I'm not ready for fall, for a change of month. Perhaps our cold snap will ease up and we can get a little more late summer before fall is official!

Pretty colors on your page. The fringe makes me think of a blanket. I've had to use a blanket the last couple of evenings in the sun room. The summer went by so quickly. Happy first day of September 😿

That's a really good theme, Erika. I have an idea and now just need to find Time to make it.
Your own piece is terrific with your own painted papers. I love the butterflies hovering around the special painted poppy.

I tried to use my phone to comment but still haven't got the settings right! I'm surprised you didn't hear me yell out loud when I saw what your theme is! I love this first page, perfect colouring! I'm not so sure about more time for crafting as I went into my craft room last night and it was too dark to work without the light - I do love crafting by daylight! Hugs, Chrisx

Great page Erika. If only I could remember how to do those plaid backgrounds i used to do. Need to get my thinking head on.
Love the effect you have achieved, the hexagonal pattern too and obviously the poppy which really pops on the page. My favourite flower.
Thanks for a great challenge, will be entering soon.
Hugs, Neet xx

Hi, Erika! The theme you chose is a versatile one indeed and allowed me to get a spread in already since August did fly by so fast that I missed participating! Hoping to do one more for this month. I really like your page. I look at the butterflies and the slightly curved and pretty plaid pattern, along with the bottom fringe, and it very much reminds me of a window shade moving in the fall breeze. Using sprays inks gives it a slightly translucent look like light is coming through. Down here in Texas, still hot hot, so I am enjoying that breeze, real or not! hahaha XOX
