Hi everyone. Happy Wednesday.
Today I have a journal page where the background really doesn't match the images I added at the bottom. That's why I call it contrasts.
The background is made using leftover paint. You know when you squeeze more out of the tube than you needed and you don't want to waste it? Over time the background was filled in with assorted leftover paints, and then I had lots of this brown paint that I made the cross circles with.
I wasn't sure where to go with this, and then decided to use an old book page and cut out some random circular items. I glued them down and then outlined them with not leftover black paint.
And I finished off my page with a few random images from piles around my work table. To me the images I added tell the story of an art collector who was tall and beautiful. She decided to make more of her life than just being a socialite so she collected flower paintings and with her money, opened a museum of them.
Although this is maybe not my most favorite page I've ever made, I still like how it came out. It was a good exercise in trying to figure out what to put with my very modern (and maybe messy) background.
Yesterday for T Day I mentioned how I had taken another beach walk on Saturday, so let me share a few photos .
Here's my favorite.
Mr. Pete was as happy as a clam at high tide. And Maddie suddenly showed an interest in collecting clam shells, picking up a shell and carrying it along for the walk. I never got a photo of the shell in her mouth, but here she is smelling a clam on laying in the sand.
Have a great middle of your week. And thanks for visiting my blog too.

It makes me wonder whether, at some point in a dog's transition from wolf to human companion, clams and other molluscs were eaten by canines. Maybe there was a glimmer in the brain somewhere that said it might be good. Hugs - David
I don´t like this work. I love it!!!
It has such a great 70´s-flair!
And the quotes are great, too.
Oh, and the beautiful beach-pics!
Have a great day, hugs
...this beach bum loves these seascapes. The second to the last is my favorite.
Those beach pictures are so beautiful! So blue and clean..
Good morning, I love your cover photo very much, and your journal page. Loved seeing the beach photos-how wonderful you live so close to enjoy the beach.
Happy mid-week Hugs Kathy
Your journal page is great fun, really a page of contrasts, and I love the story you made to go with it! I do envyy you being able to visit the beach and see the ocean, so beautiful. And Pete looks so ☺ happy! Maddie is perhaps a lover of seafood?! Thanks for another great piece for my challenge at AJJ. Hugs, Valerie
Fun story you created with your art. Love Pete's smile he looks like a very happy boy. Were you at Long Sands? Enjoy the sunshine and stay warm.
I LOVE how you turned that page of contrasts into a thing of joy and beauty. I'm a big fab of circles, so this spoke to me. It's a wonderful entry for Valerie's theme at AJJ, too.
WOW to the beach shots. Just great. Loved all the pics you and your husband took.
Lovely page and a fun walk.
I'd love to come along on one of these walks :) I'll be satisfied with the virtual experience :)
I like it, it's something completely different and you've put it together imaginatively
The dog loves it as much as you do on the beach, great photos! I finally went to the beach again today.
I wish you beautiful days!Hug Elke
I forgot to tell you yesterday how much I like your new banner! And the beach pix. Sigh. Soon. Never soon enough!
Well, I think your story has made your page work for me. In the midst of the modern art world sits this collector of flower paintings. She made it happen. That's what it says to me. And aren't y'all good dog parents to give them a fun time at the beach, although I get chilled in strong (and not-so-strong) wind so easily these days and I'm pretty sure my teeth would be chattering out there! Good that it was you and not me. Happy Thursday! xoxo
