T Stands for Ending the Hiatus

Hi everyone. It's once again time for T. Boy did last week fly as I am sure this one will too.

This past Saturday we expected some mid-afternoon precipitation. Luckily the weather turned out to be just a dusting of snow and mostly a mix of sleet and rain because the weather people were predicting we could have 2-4 inches of snow. I'm so happy they were wrong.

In the morning, the hubby and I put the dogs in the car and headed off to the beach. It was a bit chilly, but it was a really nice morning for a beach walk.

On the way home we ran a few errands, and then, since it was lunchtime, we decided to stop for something to eat.

Those of you who have visited my blog on T days for awhile might remember that one place I really enjoyed eating was this hole in the wall restaurant near my house called the Farmer's Kitchen. It's a really small place, with low ceilings and a lot of tables. And for breakfast there is always a line waiting outside no matter what the weather.  During covid, we didn't really feel this was where we wanted to be, so we haven't eaten there since before the pandemic began.

On our way home  from the beach and errands on Saturday the hubby and I talked about what we wanted for lunch. I really wanted breakfast foods. My husband wanted to get closer to home just in case the weather came in early plus he had a few chores at home he wanted to do.  We suspected that the Farmer's Kitchen wouldn't be as crowded since the breakfast crowd was past and on weekends the lunch crowd never usually seemed as big.

(FYI-the Farmer's Kitchen is open from 5 AM until 2 in the afternoon except on Sundays when they close at noon. Breakfast is served all day and lunch starts at 11.)

Once we made the decision to stop there, I started thinking about their homemade hash and their blueberry pancakes. I was a bit worried that my memories would make them tastier than they really were. Afterall, we hadn't eaten there for 3 years.

I was going to order pancakes with a side of hash, but then I saw that the Uncle Cricket's breakfast was only $1 more. In the Uncle Crickets breakfast there are 2 eggs, hash, homefries (with me adding peppers and onions) and 2 pancakes. I had them add blueberries to my pancakes too. I especially like that they add the little native blueberries to their pancakes, and a lot of them too.

Warning if you're hungry you may not want to continue reading-smile.

You can see my and my husband's Diet Pepsi that we had to drink.  This is my link to  Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog for T this week.

Plate 1 is my 2 eggs that are draped over my hash and the  home fries are in the back.

Plate 2 is my 2 pancakes which would have been a big enough meal in itself.

This is way more food than I ever remember getting, even though the servings pre-covid were big.
I ate the pancakes and some of the hash, as well as 1 egg. I was then ready to be rolled out to the car. I'm sure all that food explains why my afternoon energy level was so low too. Smile.

But the good news is called a take out box, and so I had another yummy  lunch on Sunday. 😀
And the other bit of good news is that the food tasted just as yummy as  I remember it being 3 years ago when I last ate there. I am glad some things, mainly the food at the Farmer's Kitchen, hasn't changed since covid became a part of our lives.

Have a great T day and week ahead.

Diners can really make life beautiful! We tried to go to the most crowded one in town last Sunday but the line was way too long so we ate at home. We will have to try again. You had me at eggs and hashbrowns and then came the blueberries!

We are in fact eating at our favorite diner tomorrow. It is open 6 am to 2 PM, and serves breakfast all day and lunch starting at 11. Tuesdays is free pie day and also 20% off for seniors. We try not to go too often so as not to get tired of it. But they have the best comfort food! LOL Happy T Day.

I love the places that serve breakfast all day. Even better when you get to bring a doggie bag home for you (and not the doggies). Glad you didn't get snow. We had a little mix, but nothing much. Happy T Day

You know I'm a snoop. Those looked like pre-covid prices. I swear, that place was cheaper than some places I have eaten in Wichita! Your eggs did nothng for me. I like sunny side up and yours look too well done for me (grin). The pancakes looked great, though. Thanks for sharing your breakfast at The Farmer's Kitchen and your diet Pepsi with us for T this almost Tuesday, dear Erika.

Yes, now I am hungry and longing for fried eggs and hash and pancakes. No wonder you had to roll to the car. Glad you had such a nice break together. Hugs, Valerie

Those pancakes look yummy Erika.
I made banana oat pancakes for breakfast this morning. It's a great way to use up over ripe bananas. We had them with raspberries and yoghurt. Wish I'd thought to take a photo.
Happy T-Day!

That is a lot of food, but it all looks really delicious and I'm glad that it tasted just as good as you remember. It would have been such a disappointment if otherwise. However, I don't get why they put so much food on a plate - half of it would have been plenty. But then you had enough for lunch on Sunday, and that is simply great. Have a lovely week, Erika.

Luckily, I am eating a sausage biscuit and some applesauce as I read this or I would be wanting to eat something. I will never ever "get" the geographical food differences in our country. Home fries AND hash? Where's the beef (pork)? Was there corned beef in that hash? We had breakfast for supper the other night and Honey fixed us omelets with peppers, onions, cheese and bacon, along with some grits and toast. I still had to add a slice of bacon to my plate, lol. And of course, I slathered Pace Picante Sauce all over the omelet. Down here, that would be consider a delectable meal. Probly not up there though. Honey grew up in a large family and they often had fried Spam and hash, that makes me gag bigtime! haha At any rate, I'm happy you had such a delicious reunion with that restaurant. Notice I have not mentioned the pancakes. As a child I loved them, but now not so much anymore, maybe as a desert. XOX

It sounds like a great day with a beach walk and delicious lunch. This meal looks delicious and it is a good portion too. Prices sound fair as well. Drinks look refreshing and these are all we want after a beach walk.
Thanks for all this sharing. Happy T-day!

P.S. I am glad that we are partners for T-day swaps. I already sent an email with my address. Please check. :)

What a breakfast! Nice! We're expecting another wind/rain storm Friday night *sigh* I'd be tired of the rain if I didn't remember how bad last summer's drought was :(

Happy belated T Tuesday
