Soaring and Flying on the Thermals

HI everyone.  Happy Wednesday.

Yesterday the sun came back out,  and it was a nice day. The boat trip out the one of the Channel Islands was on. I was surprised how steep the hills on the island were, but we managed to have a nice work out walk. We also saw some island wildlife as well as lots of dolphins during the boat trip. On the way home there was a giant pod of them, easily up to 1,000 of them. It was amazing, and even the boat people said they had never seen so many dolphins at once. Once I get photos squared away, I'll share some with you.

I am back today with a page for Chris' All Kinds of Weather challenge at Art Journal Journey. I am also linking my page to More Mixed Media where the challenge is anything goes with optional black. And lastly, I am also linking for day 17 at AEDM at Leah's blog.

The weather on my page today is some wind, especially the high level warm thermals the birds like to soar in.

I painted and  spray inked on my paper to make the background. Mr.  Wind is warm today,  as thermals had to be created for the birds. He is a die cut I've had for a long long time. I also die cut the swirls of blue that create those upper level thermals. The 2 birds, which I had hoped would be more like eagles (but somehow their heads just don't cut it) are images I traced, inked and outlined, after I fussy cut the tracings.

Finally I added the word fly. Soar might have been a better choice, but then soaring is a part of flight for some species.

I also have a tag for Valerie's challenge at Tag Tuesday. This time the theme is anything goes. This is a tag I made quite awhile back, and this photo has been sitting in my computer tag photo file. I used some inking, stamping, a couple of Art By Marlene punch outs. I gave her paper foil wings and a flower too.

Only a couple more days left on our California adventure. I want to apologize again if I haven't made it to your blog on a regular basis, and let me say thanks if you are stopping by mine when I've missed some of yours.

I hope you are having a great week too.  Thanks for visiting.

Your page makes me think of the red tail hawks in the area riding the thermals while searching for a snack. Your tag made me smile. Enjoy your trip.

Wow 1000 dolphins, I've never seen that many all at once. Maybe they are gathering for a secret meeting lol (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) Really love how you portrayed wind on your page and the soaring birds. Your tag is great too, really quirky and colourful. Have a nice rest of your holiday. Happy AEDM! Elle/EOTC xx

Your journal page is fabulous. It has lots of energy and I can feel the winds as I see the birds in flight. It's a joyful entry for Chris's theme at Art Journal Journey, too. Love that background.

The tag is super fun,. I love her wings and her hair. She is such a fun and quirky girl. Love this tag, Erika. Hope your vacation is going well, too.

A fabulous page Erika, I can imagine the birks soaring in the sky, They look like they are hovering waiting for the next gust to catch them. Have a good rest of the week.

That is a fabulous die you have used on your page - I love mr Wind (as long as he is gentle or stays on your page).
How wonderful to see so many dolphins, that must have been a sight for sore eyes. Once again, when in America, I went to somewhere where they had dolphins and people were amazed when one came over to me and talked to me. I was so thrilled, I love dolphins.
Must compliment you on your tag - I love it - absolutely fabulous!
Hugs, Neet xx

I live dolphins and think they are very highly intelligent so I can't wait to see your pics. Your page is excellent and captures the wind with the Grey's in the background. The splatter look works well with that great cutout of Mr wind. Your book mark is colorful and funny with her ball boobs and hair. Great use of colour
