Sunny Days are Perfect

Hi everyone.

I am sharing a journal page for Chris'  All Kinds of Weather challenge at Art Journal Journey today.

The background for this page went through some changes. It started off with dark green paint and some black hexagons stenciled on it. Then I decided it was too blah, so I used some white gesso and once that dried, some of this bright green paint on it, leaving the darker green as a rough frame on the edge. I wanted some texture, so I used some clear Elmer's glue and made a big squiggle with it. It  dries clear, which lets you see the colors underneath.

I rubbed a green ink pad over it. Then I cut a big circle from some fun printed paper to make a sun. I glued and stitched that on my page.  While I was stitching, a made a border around the page too.

To finish off my page I used a couple of images from an Art by Marlene punch out book, and I added a stamped and fussy cut trunk image. The words are made with individual letter stickers.

If all goes as planned, I won't be taking a road trip but a boat trip today. We are in Ventura, California, after driving in from the desert yesterday. That was an exciting trip as we avoided Los Angeles highways and drove through some National Forest roads that twisted and turned up and down in elevation.

We have reservations to take a boat out to one of the Channel Islands in Channel Island National Park. When we arrived last night it was very very foggy, and when we asked out the hotel, we were told it had been foggy all day. I'm not sure if the boat goes out in thick fog. I can let you know tomorrow whether we went for our boat trip or not.

If you are wondering why I haven't joined in for T today, that is because I'm not sure I'll have time to comment on everyone's blogs, so  have decided to skip T and just have to comment on the challenges I am a part of. Depending on my time, I may be by for a comment even if you aren't participating in a challenge.

I also wanted to share my art for Leah's AEDM, day 16.

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

I hope the boat trip happens. It'd be an interesting outing even in fog, though heavy fog would make it dangerous I imagine.

I'm well aware of that fog in CA. So glad you avoided the LA traffic. I hope your rental car has good GPS. You need it in CA. The bad thing about fog is if you have to drive in it at night. Without good fog lights, you will have trouble seeing more than a few feet in front of you.

That's a great page, and really special for Chris's theme at AJJ. I take it this is a car suited for the right side of the street (grin)! Thanks for this beauty and have a great day, dear.

Oh Erika, I have been to Ventura many many times. My friend loved the place, her favourite place on earth and we went almost every year we visited her in CA. The last time I picked some HUGE pine cones from down by the railroad and took them home (naughty but loved them). Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Must say I love your road trip page. What a gorgeous end colour you have for your background and it is good to see a bit of the original peeping through as a border. Love the car and adore the figure by Marlene - they are such fun.
Hugs, Neet xx
