T Stands for A Late Lunch

Hi everyone. Happy new week. And a happy T day to those of you who join in at Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's   blog  for T each week.

I missed stopping by last week for T, but my husband and I had gone to California for 10 days. Boy did that time fly by.

Before we left I was worried about traveling and covid, but I must say even in a state with WAY more people than in New Hampshire, I felt very safe with all the mask mandates and other precautions. We even had to show proof of vaccination at a few places we visited. There is none of that here in New Hampshire, and we are at our highest levels of covid patients yet in this pandemic.

I took these photos because when we look back at them, I want to remember that masks were a big part of the trip. Of course I am waiting for the day when masks go away and covid isn't such an issue.

We spent a lot of our time doing outside things. It also helped that there was warmer weather than New Hampshire so we were able to do quite a bit of outside dining.

Like this wonderful late lunch, early dinner we had one day in the town of Cambria.

I had this delicious roasted veggie quiche with a salad. My drink (my ticket for T day) was this fruity ice tea.

This green building was the restaurant where we stopped to eat. It had come highly recommended from a couple we had spoken with earlier in the trip, and even though we didn't plan stopping here it just ended up this was when it was time for food. I recognized the name and so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed.

The little garden area around the patio seating made it a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the meal too.

The restaurant also had a yummy looking bakery counter. My husband and I each got a dessert to go. Since we had such a late lunch, our dinner was our yummy sweet in our hotel room later that night.

I'd never tried an olallieberry before, so I went for this giant pie slice. It tasted like a cross between a raspberry and blackberry. My pie was delicious, but I could have used a scoop of ice cream. Smile.

I am sure I will bore you with more travel meal photos in the next few weeks-smile.

I hope everyone (who celebrates) has a wonderful Thanksgiving this week. And to everyone, have a wonderful week ahead.  Happy T day too.

I am linking up my post to day 22 of AEDM also.

As usual, thanks for visiting.

I was glad to see the vaccination and mask requirements. Sadly, there are a lot of anti-vaxers there. They DO have the healthiest food, though. They pride their selves on their healthy lifestyle and your meal looked fabulous as a result.

It was a beautiful garden and I loved the prickly pear cacti.

Thanks for sharing a bit of your trip, your quiche, your pie, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Erika.

30 or so years ago, I had gone to visit my friend, Teague who had moved to CA. One one trip up to the Hearst Castle, we stayed in Cambria! at a motel that overlooked the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful flowers and I've never heard of olallieberry before, but it looks delicious. Yeah, a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream is needed. Happy T Day

So fun that you got to go on a big trip and experience fun things in the lingering days of Covid! It is so refreshing to be able to get out.and to go where people have taken a lot of precautions. It was like that when we went to New Mexico in the summer. The food looks fab - especially the pie! The landscape is so beautiful there. Can't wait to see more pictures! Happy T-day and happy Thanksgiving, Erika. Hugz

How wonderful that you were able to go on vacation! I looked up Cambria as I didn't know where in California it is. The name intrigues me as it is the ancient name for Wales (as well as a geological period).
It is lovely to eat outside, our climate is not so cold either so we are used to eating outside in the day time. (Less Covid risk too). So I am glad you felt relaxed, as a vacation should be relaxing.
I had never heard of olalliberries. But the bun looks delicious.
The prickly pears look very healthy. Here there has been something nasty that has diseased all the cacti, and in southern Spain most prickly pears died. But they are slowly coming back.
Happy T-Day,
Have a great week,
Hugs

It sounds like an exciting trip. Our governor is fighting mandates here. I'd love to see the bill for all the legal battles we're going through :( Happy T Tuesday!

Lovely photos of the memories you made. Ohhh yes the Olalliberries were developed at the university in Oregon. They are a cross between a Loganberry and a Youngberry. People often think they are blackberries but the taste is a bit stronger. Nice you had the pie with them. Have a great day today.

We certainly do a lot of masking etc here in California. Did you stay in the Central California area? Since you were at the coast, you know how stunning this region is. Yummy looking food - I like quiches. I look forward to see where else you went to in my state.

Love all the photos of your trip, the prickly pear cactus looks amazing as does your food. A berry that is a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry sounds fantastic.
