Random Photos

 Hi everyone. Happy Friday.

Today I have some random photos to share.  It's been a fairly quiet week so my photos aren't very exciting. There are a few faces in my photos to share  for Nicole's  Friday Face Off .  I am also linking up to Gillena's Friday Art Lunch Break . I hope you don't mind snow photos because it's still around where I live so that's mostly what  I've photographed. We have had  spring-like weather all week though, so there's a lot of melt going on. In fact, in some spots we're down to bare ground. 😀

Above is the snow gauge after the big storm a week and a half ago. And below is the snow gauge on this past Tuesday, a week after the storm.

As the snow is melting, it is forming some interesting patterns. I found this snowy lace one day.

And these half melted ice crystals were glistening in the sun.

One place that never melts quickly is my backyard. I have never figured out why that is because it gets quite a bit of sun. My front yard which has lots of trees and is on the north side (shade side) of the house is really getting bare. I'm thinking the trees are pulling in lots of water and helping the snow to melt.

This year one of the tough things is that back when we went to Florida in January we had snow and then rain and then cold weather. That means underneath the most recent snow is this layer of ice that we haven't been able to remove.  Here's a photo of my husband trying to clean off some snow to get to his workshop last weekend. He hadn't been able to get through the frozen snow-ice until now. You can see what I mean by lots of snow on the ground still.

I'm glad Miss Maddie decided to lay on this piece of ice instead of in the mud around it.

And yesterday afternoon when it was raining I looked out the window and caught these 2 wild turkeys at my bird feeder.

Have you had enough of snow photos? (Me too.) Here's another face for you. This time it's avian and from one of my trips down to the beach to walk.

OK, there was still some snow at the beach when I took these  first 3 photos. But this week when I went for a walk the snow was gone.

In this next photo I've been trying to decide if those are seals or a lot of seagulls on the rocks. The colors look like seagulls but some of them look like they are lounging in that way seals do. I wish I had my big camera with me because this was a much as my phone could zoom in.

And you might remember my birthday roses. They are looking a little worse for wear right now, but in another way, I like the look. They have that vintage feel and almost look like paper .

And finally, this morning's sunrise was pretty.

That’s all for me today. I hope you do something you love this weekend. And as always, thanks for visiting my blog.

Some great pictures, Erika, especially those along the shore. I feel quite smug now. Virtually all of our snow has disappeared and I have Snowdrops blooming in the backyard, and that makes me smile a lot. I first saw them about three years ago and we didn't plant them so I assume they are a gift from the squirrels. Given the volume of bird seed they eat, it's the least they could do! Hugs - David

...I feel a bit cheated this winter, we had a little over 30" of snow. A sunrise like this gives you a reason to get out of bed.

"Bare ground", wo-hoo, sounds exciting! We had twice 2cm, that was it!
Oh, by golly, that is tough snow-ice-combo! But why does Miss Maddie lie down on ice? Isn´t that cold?!
What kind of birds are they, they look huge.
Hmmm, the ocean. The roses look like from a barock-painting, very beautiful. As the sunrises. Too a color-and beautiful weekend, hugs

Wow, dear Erika, that really is a LOT of snow. Even if it's melting now, it must have been a lot of work. Cleverly deciding from Miss Maddie not to get dirty. (By the way: Thanks for telling me about your Costa Rican adventures. You obviously weren't doing it as cleverly as Miss Maddie 😉. Sorry - hopefully it will comfort you that similar whoops have happened to me before. Among other things, I slipped in Venice/ Italy and fell into the Canale Grande - believe me, I got VERY wet and muddy-green there 😁...)
Hm, good question, I almost think they are seals, too... Or monster-seagulls...
Your dried roses look very nostalgic, I like that!
Oh, and your sunrise photos are especially pretty!!
All the best and have a nice weekend!
Hugs, Traude 😘

What an amazing world of snow you had. I am really impressed with your husband's now blower that cut through that snow in what must have seemed like no time. I cannot begin to imagine snow that deep here in KS. Even now, with your latest photos, it seems like the snow that is left is more than we got all winter.

Wow. The beach looks unmistakably cold. I hope you were bundled up.

BTW, I forgot to mention that I have been all over KS and have NEVER seen mountains like those in that mural. That is NOT a scene from KS, I promise. It's as flat as a pancake. In fact, on a clear day, in the country, you can see the declination of the earth.

Two more things I forgot to mention. At first, I didn't understand what you meant about the line running through my photos. I thought you meant there was something wrong with my photos. Only now did I know what you were talking about. That is a ROPE that runs along the bottled spices. The store doesn't want anyone grabbing a jar of spices when no one is there. When someone is there to weight things, the rope is removed. There is a note that tells people to ask the attendant to get the spice jars and not to get them yourself. Hpope that explained the "line."

Second, I wish I lived closer. I would loan you my gallon of silica gel and you could preserve those old roses. You might try preserving one using glycerin. I did that once and had a moderately good effect. It's what keeps eucalyptus you buy at the craft store so soft and subtle, or is that supple.

Do Maddie the Dog and the turkeys understand that snow is cold and slippery? I wonder why they don't spend their winter inside the house or shed.

You got a lot more snow than we did! All the snow has finally melted. Looks like you had a good melt going looking at the second pic of the snow gauge. Red sky morning. I hope you don't get a lot of snow from this next weather event moving in. We might get a bit of a mix, but going over to rain. Have a cozy day by the wood stove.

I used to get snow like that when we lived on the lake. I miss it a lot and this year we had basically nothing, just a few dustings. Your sunrises are beautiful, a nice way to start your day. I see you have someone to clear your snow too ... I loved it when it was so deep, but my son, who had the job your husband has, didn't agree with me:) Love the ice crystals ... you have a good eye for nature's beauty. Enjoy your week and stay warm :)

Wow, the thought of snow on the beach blows my mind. I live in California where we mostly go giddy for the brief, light snowfalls that happen every blue moon like this past winter. That snow pack on the pump looks like some kind of critter, maybe a beaver.

First, belated 🎂wishes, Erika, as after seeing the white roses and reading they were from that event, I realized it passed by my notice. My best wishes for a great year to celebrate yourself. You did have a lot more snow the. In Nashua, where now the only snow piles are those in parking lots. We had a period of flurries on Saturday and then a steadier rain for most of the afternoon and evening. The beach and sunset views were nice to see after all the snow pics.
