Another Sign of the Season

 Hi everyone.

Today for  Food Wednesdays  over at Kathy's blog-Hummingbird Studio at the Lake I have a spring inspired post. It is always exciting when this flag is hanging outside of the restaurant in my town.

When covid first hit and eating in restaurants wasn't possible, my husband and I started a new tradition of having an ice cream for our Sunday lunch. We'd do this as long as the ice cream window was open which in our town is usually mid-April to mid-October.

We've continued this tradition since then. This is the start of year 3.

The restaurant in our town serves huge portions. Enough where an ice cream can be lunch.

I had one of my favorites. It's called Aroma Joe's. Aroma Joe's is a local coffee chain, and this ice cream (not made by them but is an ode to them) is coffee flavored with peanut butter chunks and chocolate chip chunks too.  Funny, I don't drink coffee, but I love coffee ice cream.

This is a bigger size than I usually get, but the new teenage staff that man the ice cream window lost our order. When we went to ask about it, I guess they felt bad and gave us giant ice creams.

But I'm not complaining.

Thanks for visiting.

Good morning (early here) Oh yum This brings back good ice cream memories. Yours looks so delicious
It's been many years now but there was a fabulous ice cream shop in the city near the woods home. a family owned business too that made some of the best ice cream I have ever had many seasonal flavors and were open year round. a small little building-with very long lines
They went out of business and we have never found another as good. Now that we are needing to watch sugars etc more I have been making us a keto version-Not the same haha
thanks so much for sharing for Food Wednesdays

Sounds like a fun tradition. Himself doesn't like or drink coffee, but he likes a coffee frappe. Go figure. He probably would like you ice cream. I was hoping the flag announced the opening of Pops. Enjoy the sunshine, but don't blow away today.

That sound like a really yummy mixture! I did have a couple of my favourite icecreams in Paris when the temperatures went up a little! Hugs, Chrisx

That's enormous! I'm always on the lookout for a place that has peppermint stick year round!

Oh,... no sweet tooth but once in a while I let some nice Italian man call be signorina (or is it the older version already?!) and get an ice-cream, too.

Such a beautiful open sign and perfect for the ice cream they sell! Wow, that tub of ice-cream looks is huge and I can see why it would be big enough for lunch 😀. Enjoy and happy wishes! Hugs Jo x

Erika, this is a wonderful tradition you and your husband started - keep it up! Yes, the portionis big, but it looks yummy - makes a great Sunday lunch, I think - and you don't have to cook! Your post sent me down memory lane as well - when we were still living in Germany, on a sunny Sunday we would take our bikes, put our daughter in her special bike seat and ride the 10 km or so into town just to get ice cream from the Italian ice cream shop. We would sit somewhere among the medieval houses and enjoy our ice cream, and then ride back home again. There was a bike and pedestrian path through the valley back to our village, it was so beautiful to ride along there, see a chapel on a hill to the left and a castle on top of a hill to the right.

As you well know, Erika, we are ice cream fans no matter what the time of year. Your flavor choice is one we would enjoy as well and what's not to like about Sunday ice cream lunch? It works for us!
