Florida Faces

Hi everyone. Happy first Friday of February.

It's time for Friday Face Off off over at Nicole's blog  and also Friday Lunch Break over at Gillena's blog  .

Last week I skipped out of these 2 challenges because I was away in Florida. Two things I did on that trip that I enjoyed were visiting the Salvador Dali Museum in St.Petersburg and also our 2 visits to Cape Canaveral National Seashore and  Wildlife Refuge.

Today I thought I would share some of the nature photos  we took on a sunset drive in the Cape Canaveral National Seashore and Wildlife Refuge. These photos were taken on a dirt road called Black Water Drive  (to Blackwater Point).  Since  our temperatures are dropping, and we will be in some  bitter cold  by tonight in New Hampshire (with wind chills bringing the temperature down between -30 and -50 degrees F / -34 to -45 degrees C), these photos make me feel a little bit warmer. ( And  thank goodness for the wood stove too!)

The sky had some great sunset colors.

And before it got too dark we saw some wildlife. I'm usually the spotter since my husband is usually  the driver, but he was finding more wildlife than me. Kudos to him since this is not really his thing.

These are my faces, plus a few other views, for Friday Face Off.

blue winged teal ducks

I believe a tri-colored heron

white ibises

American coot

  Common Moorhens

We had some "fun" with this next gator. He was swimming towards shore, and when we stopped the car, he stopped swimming. My husband backed the car up a bit, and he started swimming again. We hoped he was going to amble across the road for us, but once he got to shore he disappeared into the undergrowth.

And then it was getting too dark to spot much else.

That's all for me today. Have a great start to your weekend.

I have seen many water birds, but the tri-colored Heron is a new one to me, as is the moor hen.
Thanks for sharing.

I have never been big on photographing wildlife, but I appreciate you did. There certainly are lots of faces, and that alligator is a bit scary. I DID love the palm trees, though.

You had some glorious sunsets, didn't you? And fabulous birds. I could live without the alligator, though. (Cam would be impressed, though he'd call it a crocodile -- he got into those after Peter Pan!)

Oh my, now I'm gonna feel chilly all night just thinking about 30 below as I cannot even imagine what that feels like. Now I'm wondering how many clothing layers it requires in the house? Please stay warm! Great photos, love the faces. Didn't know you liked alligators so much. You should plan one day to hit our local Gatorfest, an annual festival in nearby Anahuac on I-10. They'll let you wrestle one! hahaha not really, and I won't be going! XOX

What fantastic photos Erika - thanks for sharing.
I am not sure I would have enjoyed the croc - but I guess the safety of the car helped. Can they swipe at a car with their tails? I don't think I have ever seen one, even in a zoo.
Beautiful bird photos really enjoyed those.
Hugs, Neet xx
